We continue the topic of root words - monosyllabic roots that have become independent words. “Molk”, the root of the words “to remain silent”, “silence”, “to remain silent”, “to keep silent”, is not used by itself. It is all the more natural to turn it into an independent word since there is a word “tolk” that is antonymous in meaning and similar in sound/spelling.
From the same root, as soon as it is recognized and isolated as an independent word, a chain reaction of new formations can continue.
shut up (cf. exchange a word) - exchange pauses, expressive signs of silence; give each other silent signs; keep silent together, by agreement; to give something to each other to understand silently (with glances, gestures).
Along with the neutral, generally accepted word “silence,” we can offer three nouns with other suffixes that characterize different shades and aspects of this state.
Silentics , silentology (silentics, silentology) - the science of silence and its structural units - milks .
