Linguistics is the queen of the humanities in the second half of the 20th century. But why is it precisely around words and sounds that break silence that discipline is isolated and established, and not around silence itself, from which linguistic units are distinguished - phonemes, words, sentences? Silence gives language the boundaries of its activity and the form in which speech meaningfully dismembers itself. This is how a new, alternative discipline arises - the linguistics of silence, or silent studies : about “ silences ”, units of silence that form speech - about the forms of silence and silencing, their semantic depths. After all, units of speech depend on units of silence between them. And then the first unit of language is not a word, but a molk , a significant unit of silence, pointing to a specific object or concept, expressing a complete meaning. And if you go down a level lower, then it’s not a phoneme, but silem , a minimal pause between phonemes, allowing them to be dissected and articulated in pronunciation.
He is writing a dissertation on the topic “Typology of molkov in the creative silence of O. Mandelstam (1925-30).” are There political, aesthetic, social-communicative, religious-mystical and intimate-biographical themes. What a meaningful period it turns out that Mandelstam had - at least print the additional fifth volume to his collected works: " Molki 1925 - 1930." And there the material is distributed by genre: poetry, prose, letters - everything that Mandelstam managed to keep silent for five years. As he wished in his youth, so it happened: “May my lips find the original muteness...” The main discovery is the poem of 1927-29, the only one in his work! I didn’t have time to write, but kept silent until it was completely finished, an unknown masterpiece! It's called "Among the Grasshoppers." Develops the motives of the poems "Silentium" (1910) and "I forgot the word, what I wanted to say..." (1921). Unconsciousness of the word... Remain foam, Aphrodite... Question: by what discipline to defend? In linguistics or literary criticism? - they might not understand, they might screw it up. And scientific advice on silentics is just being created._______________________________________________________________________________________

people forget about the traps. Words are needed to convey thoughts, but
when thoughts are comprehended, people forget about words. I would like to
talk to a person who has forgotten about words.

network project Mikhail Epstein's "The Gift of Words" has been published since April 17, 2000. Every week, several new words are sent to subscribers, with definitions and examples of use. These words are not in any dictionary, and yet they denote significant phenomena and concepts for which there has not yet been a place in the language and public consciousness. "Dar" also conducts discussions about the Russian language, discusses letters and suggestions from readers. “The Gift” can serve as a guide to word creation, an introduction to the world of linguistic fantasies and mental technologies. “The word controls the brain, the brain controls the hands, hands control the kingdoms” (Velimir Khlebnikov).
