2008, Belek, Hotel "Rixos Premium". Decisive matches of the European Football Championship. Ours, under the leadership of the Great Hus and the Turks, quickly meet each other, knocking out European football grads along the road. The Turks sing their anthem or something like that, I remember only the words: “EEE, Turkeye!”, It sounds quite menacingly and I clearly understand that these polite employees of the hotel and the pretty vacationers who jumped up in a single impulse - they are the heirs of the Great Military Empire, the heirs of the winners of Rome itself, they dominated for centuries and did not forget anything. The meeting did not take place - ours lost to the Spaniards, the Turks to the Germans. I must say that we were waiting for this meeting with some fear - our hospitable owners looked too belligerent.
2011, March, Istanbul, Helton Hotel. Right behind the wall is a huge territory, forced by guns and any other equipment. A bunch of soldiers, barbed wire. I thought - some kind of military base. It turned out - a military museum. Giant, very interesting. There were three hours there, and it was possible 12 Turks - the Great Military Nation, with a huge history of victories and conquests, courage and heroism, in the sense in which this is actively promoted with us. We won many wars with them. But a lot and lost and seems to have forgotten about it. For a long time, the high port, as the government of the Ottoman Empire was then called, was derogatoryly called "sick man in Europe." Sobbilled from internal squabbles, the Turks began to lose not only the powers - Russia, England, Austria, but even Serbs and Romanians.
However, this played an angry joke with many and almost cost the whole career himself Winston Churchill, who led the British fleet during the Gallipoli operation. We know little about it, but for Russia it was a key battle of the First World War and, perhaps, its failure predetermined the revolution and military collapse of the Russian Empire. The price of the issue is the supply of Russia weapons and ammunition through the straits. Russia could not provide itself and the allies tried to break through the corridor, underestimating, before that forever broken Turks.
The operation ended with collapse and Churchill flooded from the Admiralty, and the campaign of the 14-15 years, were lost on the Eastern Front. Only by the end of the 16th year, Russia began to provide itself, but the war was already delayed and the revolution became inevitable.
This happened because Europe forgot how formidable military force there were always the Turks - earlier, they had not only bold soldiers, but also the best gunners and sophisticated commanders. The Turks prepared for the world war and again became serious force.
In World War II, Türkiye prudently refrained and again forgot about their strength.
Now Russia says that the Turks "do not get off with tomatoes."
And who said they want to get rid of tomatoes?
It seems that we confused them, with representatives of the peoples who have been trading in our markets.
These old warriors have been itch for a long time.
Do you really want to scare them with war?
