About the tank

The other day (I didn’t specify when; perhaps on Monday) an extended meeting of the board of the Arkhangelsk Region Prosecutor’s Office was held, dedicated to the situation with the protection of historical and cultural monuments.

The data announced at the board and the conclusions drawn on the basis of these data did not so much shock me as puzzle me.

Degradation of cultural heritage?

It can't be!

Massive violations of the law?

Come on!

With the complicity of the authorities?

I don't believe it!

However, yes: here, in Pomerania, everything is possible.

Today is all.

But yesterday... Yesterday I wish everyone was for this... Everyone! Up to your ears...

Because yesterday’s (former) criminal governor did not allow any (let alone cultural) degradation: it was not in his nature. Ilya Filippovich, as they say, cared about everything. Especially, I repeat, about ancient monuments.

Let's take, for example, the British Mark V tank.

Everyone knows that this piece of iron has been standing in the city (now here, now there) since 1940.

And no one cared about her!

But then Ilya Filippovich Mikhalchuk came...

And even so: he didn’t even have time to arrive, and the tank had already been put in for repairs and was carefully repaired for 4 whole years!

In 3 (not 4) years it was possible - without exaggeration! - overhaul the real nuclear one! - a submarine.

But the tank is not a boat, but a historical monument, and therefore it took not 3, but 4 years to repair it.

They repaired it, returned it to its place and covered it with a glass sarcophagus so it wouldn’t gather dust.

The sarcophagus, of course, was blown away - this happened - by gusty winds.

but these are the little things in life.

Something else is important.

It is important, in particular, that in the Moscow Kremlin no one thought of covering either the Tsar Cannon or the Tsar Bell with glass or even cellophane.

And in Arkhangelsk - please! - sarcophagus.

- What prompted him? Something prompted it.

Motivated. There are two versions. I'll explain. But first, a little history in its modern sense.

So.

When the Great October Socialist Revolution took place, the Entente countries thought that this was an unfortunate misunderstanding.

And they decided that they needed to help the Pomeranian peasants overthrow the Bolsheviks. But the Pomeranian peasants did not appreciate the nobility of the Entente countries and drove out the interventionists.

And they didn’t just drive us away, they drove us away, capturing the tank.

They captured it and in 1940 they placed it on a pedestal in Arkhangelsk.

They hoisted up, however, not the same tank that had been taken away, but a different one.

But very similar to that one.

When (in the late 80s) it became clear that there was no Great October Socialist Revolution, but only a riot, in Great Britain they began to think about the possibility of returning the tank to its rightful owners.

They say that the Queen of England, realizing that it was impossible to return the tank immediately , turned to the criminal governor of the Arkhangelsk region with the following words: “Ilyusha,” the queen allegedly said, “you should take care of the tank!”

And Ilya Filippovich (as if) ordered to cover the tank with a glass cap - to save it.

They say that India was very interested in the British tank - India did not have one, but they, the Indians, really needed it to be there.

The Indians, they say, turned to Ilya Filippovich with the following words: “Ilyusha,” the Indians allegedly said, “you, dear one, order that a copy of the tank be made. Of course, we don’t need a copy, we need the original. But do you care?”

Ilya Filippovich, they say, was embarrassed at first: “But I,” he said, “will be imprisoned for this!”

“They won’t put you in jail,” the Hindus objected, “because no one will know.”

Ilya Filippovich (allegedly) agreed with the Indians and ordered a copy to be made.

A copy was made and placed on a pedestal.

And the original sailed away on the VIKRAMADITYA.

And no one found out. Everyone was happy. The governor's wife, they say, was especially pleased. How could she not be when she has an extra penny in the house!

The regional department of the FSB, I believe, can either confirm or refute this version.

But you need to “unwind”.

The management has no time to “promote” it: it is catching Shaulov.

And how I would like it to be promoted!

Here's the thing.

If it turns out that the tank was replaced, then the tank will undoubtedly be returned to Arkhangelsk. In this case, the prosecutor's office of the Arkhangelsk region will have the opportunity to report to the higher prosecutor's office about its successes in preserving historical heritage.

If, on the contrary, it turns out that there was no substitution, then the bright name of Ilya Filippovich Mikhalchuk will shine in all its purity more than ever.

And so, as we see, it will be good, and so on.
