Cars with Arab flags were detained in Kazan

Kazan police on October 26, on the day of the Muslim holiday of Kurban-Bayram, detained drivers traveling around the city with black and white flags, according to the website of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Tatarstan. On the flags in Arabic it is written "there is no God except Allah, and Muhammad is his prophet."

Drivers found unpaid fines for violating the rules of the road traffic. The question of whether to bring them to administrative responsibility has not yet been resolved. The flags were sent to a religious examination.

Similar flags with Surahs from the Qur'an were used in Kazan in the summer of 2012 for promotions against mass detentions in the case of attempted mufti of Tatarstan Ildus Fayzov. The prosecutor's office asked the banners, presumably brought by the prohibited Islamist organization Hizb Ut-Tahrir. Representatives of the organization denied their involvement in the flags.

The same flags were seen at the celebration of Kurban-Bayram in other cities of Russia.

The photographs of eyewitnesses shows that at least five cars with flags moved along Kazan. Interfax, citing the press service of the Internal Affairs Directorate for Kazan, reports 10 cars that were detained in different places of the city, including on Yamashev Avenue and on the southern highway. At the same time, the Tatar-Inform news agency talks about 20 detained cars.

On October 24, the Kazan security forces conducted a special operation, during which two suspects were eliminated in attempted mufti Fayzov. The militants, as the FSB said, also prepared a terrorist attack in Kazan on Kurban Bayram.
