The city hall proposed to make a section of Nagornaya Street along the “near the diet” market unilateral. Officials are convinced that this will reduce the number of accidents and cleanse the street from "traffic jams". Meanwhile, the traffic police is sharply against such an initiative.
Nagornaya Street is a curse for Arkhangelsk motorists and pedestrians. It is very narrow, cars are moving on it continuously, and along the sidewalks cars are parking in almost a few rows. There are practically no parking around the market. The one that is, accommodates only a dozen cars, there is no need to talk about trucks. Pedestrians who go to the market are constantly crossing the street, and often they have to cross the road, because There are also cars on the sidewalks. All this creates a mess and constant emergency situations. In the opinion of the city authorities, the introduction of one -way traffic in the Nagornaya can solve the problem. But the traffic police consider it impractical. It is better to streamline the movement in the form in which it is. In addition, drivers do not agree with the direction of movement that officials offer. Another argument - in winter it is simply dangerous to introduce such changes on the road - it is impossible to apply the appropriate marking.
Nevertheless, the city hall intends to allocate additional funds to install the necessary road signs for one -sided traffic, and the contractors are already ready to start work.
