The arrival of auto -shop on our farm is always an event. He is expected to be impatiently, they are preparing for his arrival, going to her, women often dress their best outfits.
In general, the arrival of Autolada is a holiday and that's it! I will not hide, sometimes I myself go to it to purchase goods that are not or they are rarely in our farm store. This time, quickly acquiring what I needed, I was about to leave when I drew attention to the fact that my neighbor was buying some strange bluish packages of pills, on which the inscription "Poison: Rat Death No. 1" flaunted. Read made me startle. Not so long ago, a whole wave of cat deaths swept through our village. The symptoms were alone everywhere - at first the liver’s work, then the kidneys, and, finally, the poor cat's heart stopped! Is there a cause of these strange and painful deaths before me now?
I tried to talk with a neighbor (who, by the way, also had a cat recently died, and death had the same symptom) on the danger of the poison bought by her, but she only dismissed. Say, mice and rats completely stuck, thirty (!) Pieces of mousetraps in the night, so whether the cats are here. To explain to her that the number of rats and mice, giving five to six broods per year, poison will still not cause serious damage, and the death of cats will only contribute to it, it turned out to be useless! Always poisoned and that's it! So, they say, it’s customary ...
A conversation with a neighbor reminded me of one experience conducted with monkeys at one of the German universities. I read about this experience in one of the popular science magazines. A banana was suspended in a cage with monkeys, to which an electric current was brought. A grasped banana the monkey received a shock and threw a banana. Other monkeys, noticing such a thing, began to rush to their goods, trying to get to the banana. Over time, other monkeys were planted in a cage, they also tried to get to the banana, but were invariably attacked by their fellow tribesmen. Then the current was turned off, but the monkeys for a long time did not allow their comrades to get to the banana to their brothers. Say, so it’s customary and that’s it!
I have long had the impression that our unfortunate long -suffering disappearing village still lives on the principle of "so accepted." This applies to everything, starting from the methods of processing the garden (which I wrote about in one of the previous articles of my blog) before the fight against pests. The village disappears, is dying out, but continues to adhere to the principle of "it is so customary!"
On the Internet, I came across repeated descriptions of the death of children and poisoning by adults with rat poison, which occurred at various ends of the “our vast Motherland”. In one case, which occurred in the village of Lopatino, Nizhny Novgorod region, two children and five adults were immediately poisoned. Under St. Petersburg, the child died a terrible death - all the insides literally flowed out overnight overnight. In the Perm region, almost all the children (!) Was relaxing in a children's camp were taken to the hospital in serious condition. How to get into their body poison - it remains only to guess! I told about this to my neighbor who bought a rat poison. After all, she has grandchildren who regularly come to the village for the summer! I don’t know whether the principle of “so accepted!” Will act or again prevailing or again?
Alas, I do not exclude ...
