Physical inactivity is one of the most common causes of poor health and the fourth leading risk factor for mortality worldwide. Experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) write about this.
They estimate that low physical activity accounts for an average of 3.2 million deaths today. In addition, humanity “loses” more than 69 million disability-adjusted healthy life years each year.
For example, in 2008, in 72 countries, the prevalence of low physical activity among the population was 30%, and in the Americas and Eastern Mediterranean countries this figure exceeded 40%.
WHO experts advise moving more and doing sports and physical exercise. According to them, in order to be healthy, an adult should maintain a minimum level of physical activity, which is 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic physical activity per week.
