The Day of National Unity in our country has been celebrated since 2005. The emergence of a new holiday in the calendar from the very beginning caused great disputes in society. So, on the eve of the first celebration in 46 regions of the country, a sociological survey was conducted. 33 percent of the respondents believed that on November 4, Russia celebrates the day of consent and reconciliation, 8 percent were going to celebrate the Day of National Unity, and 5 percent-“the day of liberation from Polish-Lithuanian intervention”.

Despite the fact that ordinary citizens did not express great joy about the new holiday, the authorities decided that, as they say, a holy place should not be empty. This day was especially like representatives of right and ultra -right views. Since 2005, the so -called “Russian marches” have been organized throughout the country - a generalized name for processions, rallies and demonstrations of nationalist movements. And if the first, officially permitted demonstration of the “Russian patriots” took place only in Moscow, then after 5 years they rally in more than thirty cities of Russia.

In Murmansk, the Russian March was held for the third time. True, it went far from the central streets, at the final stop of bus No. 29. The people also call this place "Mountain of Fools." On November 4, at 14 o’clock, the polar nationalists gathered on Starostin Street, near the house No. 49, and a slender column under the guardianship of the policeman proceeded to the rally venue. The organizer of the procession was the newly emerging organization "New Power". Among the audience, both representatives of the opposition “other Russia” and liberals from the “LDPR” were also seen. It can be seen that for the Murmansk rebels any holiday is an occasion to go out, to show yourself.

The main speaker at the “Russian march” again became Alexander Valov, the 23 year old head of the Murmansk branch of the Pndo (“Pan Slavyansky National Volunteer Association”). By the way, in 2009, Valov was judged under Part 1, 282 of the article (“excitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity”) for drawing a swastika on the walls of houses in the city of the Apatites of the Murmansk region.

In total, the “Russian March” in the capital of the Arctic gathered about a hundred people. By the way, different sources indicate a different number of participants: nationalists write about the number 200, bloggers, referring to the data of the police, 110, and independent human rights defenders watching the procession, and they say at all - a maximum of 80. Moding an hour and a half, the nationalists dispersed to their homes.
