Explosive disposal experts will be awarded for defusing a Russian bomb that fell in Belgorod
The Belgorod authorities will honor specialists of the Defense Ministry and Rosgvardia, rescue workers, and police officers for their efforts in discovering and safely disarming the bomb that fell in the city on April 20th. The decision to present awards was made in response to requests from residents of the region, according to Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, who made the announcement during a live broadcast on April 24th.
Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov has responded to appeals made by local residents and ordered that awards be presented to the individuals involved in the successful excavation and disarmament of the bomb found near the one that exploded on April 20th. The honorees will include police officers, bomb squad members from the Rosgvardia and Defense Ministry, and the "Belgorod battalion" of self-defense that guarded the site where the bomb was located.
Gladkov praised the teams for their seamless and professional approach, stating that their coordinated efforts ensured that no mistakes were made.
The incident occurred on the evening of April 20th, when an aircraft munition suffered an "abnormal descent" over Belgorod, resulting in a 20-meter crater. Several buildings and cars were damaged, and three individuals were injured. Two days later, another unexploded bomb was discovered in the city center, leading to the evacuation of approximately 3,000 people. No casualties were reported in either incident.
