Solidarity Day

One of the names of May 1 - International Workers' Day - is celebrated in 142 countries and territories of the world.

I went to the square. I expected to see, as in the old days, the passage of the column and congratulatory speeches. But I saw something completely different.

First the trade unions came to the stage. On the stage itself is the city mayor and trade union leaders. Among those gathered were banners indicating affiliation with the organization - a library, a plant named after. Lepse, etc. Several people with posters “Down with debt slavery”, “We need jobs, not shocks” and more in the same spirit. Among those standing there was the United Russia party with its flags. There were approximately 150-200 people gathered.

They spoke from the podium for about 30 minutes.

The square was practically empty.

After another 30 minutes, the communists entered the square in a column with a brass band. They, of course, settled down at the monument to their leader. Speeches denouncing the government, calls for a change of government, a little about the working man. This lasted about 40 minutes; there were about 150-200 people gathered.

I decided that this would all end and began to leave the square. But I saw another column entering the square. I could be wrong (I couldn’t see it from afar), but they were spravoros.

So I never saw the solidarity of workers. Everyone is on his own, everyone is in different columns, in different stands. The leaders, as usual, are in the stands, and the workers are around the stands and a little further away.
