Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the creation of the Russian State segment on the Internet. The document is published on the portal of legal information. The draft decree was prepared and published by the FSO in October 2013.
The already existing section of the Internet will be transformed into the new network, which is used by state authorities. The development of the new segment will be engaged in the Federal Security Service. All state structures will have to connect to it until 2018.
The Decree of Putin lists organizations that need to connect to the "State Net" before December 31, 2017: the Federation Council, the State Duma, the judicial authorities, the prosecutor's office, the Accounts Chamber, as well as those bodies that ensure their functioning. At the same time, the presidential administration does not appear there.
The new segment is created to counter the threats of information security of the Russian government, the text says. The state segment will serve as an intermediate link between the usual Internet and the resources of state bodies, and will also become a platform for posting state institutions.
