On October 31, the next meeting with the residents of the village of Bolshaya Soyva took place.

We came to negotiations:

Consultant for the Forest Ecology of the Consulting Center "Tefra" Vasily Gerasimov;

Representative of Pechoraenergresurs LLC Andrey Istomin;

Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection of the Trinity-Pechersky District Mikhail Pantin.

Let me remind the readers that the dispute between the inhabitants of the village and the loggers arose about the logging of the forest in the number one site, which is located directly opposite the village.

On behalf of the Tefra Consulting Center, I conducted a survey of the villagers on a questionnaire compiled by Valentina Semyashkina in the Silver Taiga Foundation. My assumptions about the importance of this site for the villagers were confirmed. Places of collecting mushrooms and berries, hunting huts and putics were applied to the map. To clarify the attitude of the villagers to the cabin in this area, we held three meetings and drew up a protocol in which the villagers said to the cut -off "No!"

The company undergoing certification procedure cannot ignore the opinion of residents. Therefore, the result of the meeting was the decision to declare a annual moratorium on the cabin on the disputed area. And then we intend to achieve the assignment to this site the status of social forests or protected areas. In this matter, we were supported by Pantin M.M., Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Protection.

The people have the right to a healthy habitat.

The people can achieve the truth if they wish.

I am satisfied with my work. People realized that they were citizens of their country and have a voice that they heard.

I am ashamed of the country and its legislators, which adopt such laws by which you can chop the forest near the village and not ask the opinions of its inhabitants.
