The Serbian coach himself is positive about the prospect of working in Russia, but so far they are in no hurry to make him a concrete offer.
Moreover, according to RFU President Vyacheslav Koloskov, any foreign mentor is “by no means a panacea for our troubles.” According to Koloskov, any coach of domestic Premier League clubs has a much greater chance of leading the Russian national team, but most likely he will be a coach working in a team that is currently in the top five, and who is “necessarily a dictator, since there is nothing else for our You can’t wish for football players.” Apparently, in this way, the President of the RFU is gradually preparing public opinion for the fact that Valery Gazzaev, who works for CSKA and the youth team, will become a coach.
The official resignation of Oleg Romantsev will apparently occur on July 7, when the executive committee of the RFU will meet, at which the results of the Russian team’s performance at the World Cup in Japan and Korea will be considered.
