In Dagestan on Wednesday night, unknown saboteurs again attacked police officers. Within an hour, two powerful bombs were detonated in different areas of Makhachkala. As a result, one Interior Ministry employee was killed and five were injured. Another undetonated bomb was discovered near the traffic police department in the morning.Although such emergencies are not uncommon in Dagestan, yesterday’s explosions caused a painful reaction in the republic’s leadership. Only in January, local special services announced the destruction of one of the most dangerous and elusive criminals in the republic - Rasul Makasharipov, nicknamed Muslim. According to security officials, he led a sabotage group that purposefully hunted intelligence officers, responsible for more than 30 lives of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB. However, after this, terrorist attacks on policemen did not stop - yesterday's explosions became the second wave in recent weeks. On April 8 at night, bombs exploded in Buinaksk and Makhachkala, and in Makhachkala two more bombs were found near the buildings of the Dagestan Medical Unit and the Kirovsky District Department of Internal Affairs of the city.
The first explosion occurred at 23.55 on the Makhachkala-airport highway, which was under construction, when a UAZ with a detachment of the 1st PPS regiment of the Makhachkala City Internal Affairs Directorate was driving along it. According to preliminary data, a mine with a capacity of 8-10 kg of TNT was buried at the edge of the road. The policemen were thrown out of the car by the blast wave. One of them died on the way to the hospital, two others received severe shrapnel wounds. Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB Directorate and the Prosecutor's Office did not have time to gather at the scene of the incident when a second explosion occurred in another area of the city at 0.50. The mine was hidden at a gas station on Akushinsky Avenue under the curb and also went off when a patrol car drove past. Three police officers inside were slightly injured.
Investigators immediately found out that the terrorists were targeting police officers. In both cases, at the time of the emergency, the streets were deserted, and the bandits could not have made a mistake. Moreover, in the first case, detectives found wires laid from the bomb to a nearby empty brick factory, through which it was activated. Experts had not yet determined how the second mine was activated yesterday, but investigators are confident that both explosions were carried out by the same group. In the morning, another undetonated mine was discovered at the checkpoint of the interdistrict registration department of the Dagestan State Traffic Safety Inspectorate. It was made from a bucket filled with a mixture of ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder. Sappers neutralized her on the spot.
