A powerful cyclone that arrived in Primorye last week threatens local residents with a new flood. The downpours that hit the region on Friday and Saturday have already caused a sharp rise in water in the Razdolnaya, Borisovka and Kazachka rivers. There is a real threat of flooding of Ussuriysk - the Razdolnaya River surrounds the city on three sides. According to local rescuers, the critical level in the river is 5.2 meters, but yesterday the water in Razdolnaya rose to 7.5 meters. Today, according to weather forecasters, the water could reach 8.5 meters. The main flood wave is expected to reach Ussuriysk this afternoon. According to estimates from the local Ministry of Emergency Situations, more than 800 residential buildings in the city may be flooded. Residents of the surrounding areas have already felt the power of the arriving cyclone. On Saturday night, the village of Putsilovka was completely flooded; its residents had to flee to a vegetable storehouse located on a hill. According to rescuers, five villages have already been flooded in the Ussuriysk region, and in one of them four houses were up to their roofs in water. However, thanks to the timely warning of weather forecasters, the disaster did not take anyone by surprise. None of the local residents were killed or injured; moreover, the villagers managed to bring all the livestock to higher ground and save it. In Vladivostok, where the cyclone also brought heavy downpours and dense fog, the bad weather did not cause serious consequences, and, according to local authorities, public transport was not even disrupted.
