Veteran Soviet cartoonist Boris Efimov, brother of the famous Soviet journalist Mikhail Koltsov, recalls his life. The hero of the film believes that he personally owes his life to the leader of the peoples, but what was it like to live under the fear of possible reprisals at any moment...
The film is the life story of two brothers and their relationship with Stalin. Efimov and Koltsov were close in spirit and outwardly similar as two peas in a pod. Their life paths diverged greatly. Boris became a political cartoonist. And Mikhail is a journalist, writer, poet. He was a hero of the Spanish Civil War. Shot on charges of espionage in 1940. Posthumously rehabilitated.
