| Today the name of the new owner of ONAKO will be known A special commission of the Russian Federal Property Fund (RFFI) is to sum up the results of the investment competition for the sale of an 85 percent state stake in the Orenburg Oil Company (ONAKO). Four companies are participating in the tender, which closed on September 14. However, the RFBR has not yet disclosed information about them. Potential participants also preferred to refrain from public comments on the eve of the competition.
Meanwhile, as one of the oil companies told the Vremya Novostey newspaper, applications for the purchase of ONAKO shares were submitted by the Profit House company, representing the interests of YUKOS, Sibneft and Stroytransgaz, as well as TNK-Invest, EvroTEK "and the British oil and gas company Sibir Energy. LUKOIL is not taking part in the competition, although its representatives have previously repeatedly stated their desire to acquire ONAKO.
Thus, the main contenders for ONACO can be divided into three groups. These are Yukos-Sibneft, TNK and the Moscow Oil Company (MNK), of which Sibir Energy is an indirect shareholder. In other words, the struggle is unfolding between the political and economic potential of the groups of Mikhail Khodorkovsky - Evgeniy Shvidler, Mikhail Fridman and Yuri Luzhkov - Shalva Chigirinsky.
It should be noted that in a conversation with a correspondent of the Vremya Novostey newspaper, a number of experts did not highly assess Sibir Energy’s chance of winning the competition. And their participation should be regarded as a desire to “make themselves known” in principle.
Let us remind you that the starting price of the package is set at $425.25 million. To participate in the auction, it is necessary to transfer a deposit of $85.05 million to the RFBR account. Alexey ZEMTSOV |
