Three months remain before the start of the university admissions campaign. This year, graduates will write an application for admission for the first time; without it, not a single university will admit applicants. Here's what we managed to find out about changes in the Unified State Examination and admission rules, the number of budget places and the minimum scores required for admission to universities in Tomsk.

Essay on history

More than six thousand Tomsk residents will take the Unified State Exam in 2016; 5.4 thousand of them are graduates of this year. The deadlines for delivery remain the same - from May 27 to June 30. However, the rules for passing a number of subjects have changed. Thus, in the test and measurement materials (KIMakh) in geography, history, social studies and computer science, the test tasks of part “A” were removed, but new ones were added. For example, schoolchildren who have chosen history as an exam will for the first time write an essay on a certain period of Russian history.

Another innovation this year is an increase in the duration of the Unified State Examination in foreign languages ​​in the “speaking” section by 30 minutes for children with disabilities.

Also this year, for the first time, Rosobrnadzor included in the final certification schedule a separate day for taking the Unified State Exam in social studies, which is due to the popularity of this subject.

The most popular subjects, according to the head of the education department of the Tomsk region, Irina Grabtsevich, traditionally remain social studies (chosen by 52% of schoolchildren), physics (29%), and history (21%). This year, 90% of graduates will take specialized mathematics.

We would like to add that this year the number of exam reception points in the region will increase, from which an online broadcast of the Unified State Examination will be conducted. There will also be more points at which KIMs will be printed and scanned in front of Unified State Exam participants.

Distribution of budget places

TPU will provide 1,237 budget places in bachelor’s programs and 1,187 in master’s programs. The top three in budget places in the master's program included such specialties as “electric power and electrical engineering” (185 places in 2016 - 160 in 2015), “chemical technology” (86 places in 2016 versus 60 in 2015) and “oil and gas engineering "(65).

The largest number of budget-funded undergraduate places are in the following specialties: “electrical power engineering and electrical engineering” (200 budget-funded places, in 2015 - 180), “nuclear physics and technology” (90 places, in 2015 there were 92) and “thermal power engineering” (60 places).

In 2016, TSU offers 2,966 budget-funded educational places, which is almost 300 more than in 2015. In undergraduate (full-time) studies, 1,362 budget-funded places are provided, which is 40 more than in 2015. There are 70 places allocated for future lawyers, the same number of places are planned for the direction of “radio-electronic systems and complexes”, in third place is the direction of “applied mathematics and computer science” (69). In master's programs, biology (55 places), jurisprudence and philosophy (33) remain popular areas.

At Siberian State Medical University in 2016, the enrollment plan for budget places will not change and will remain at the level of last year. So, 602 people will be able to study on a budgetary basis. The largest number of budget places will be in the specialties “general medicine” (240), “pediatrics” (125) and “pharmacy” (100).

In TUSUR, budget places have been preserved only for technical specialties. There are 718 budget places available for bachelor’s degrees, 349 for master’s programs, and 105 places are allocated for specialty programs. The largest number of budget places in bachelor’s programs, as in 2015, will be in the areas of “informatics and computer technology” (120), “electronics and nanoelectronics” (95), and “infocommunication technologies and communication systems” (100). In the master's program, the most places are provided in the areas of “radio engineering”, “electronics and nanoelectronics” - 54.

In 2016, TSASU will have 139 fewer budget places. The reduction will affect bachelor's and specialty degrees, while in the master's degree the number of budget places will increase by 12 and amount to 295. The reduction in the bachelor's degree included the specialized area of ​​the university "construction" - from 525 to 429 places. However, in the “technosphere security” direction there will be more budget places - 90 in 2016. In 2015 there were 80.

The number of budget places at TSPU has also been reduced. In full-time master's programs from 490 to 320, in bachelor's programs from 396 to 342. In total, budget places at the university are planned 594 for bachelor's degrees, 470 for master's programs and 16 for specialists.

Application for admission

The application for admission is perhaps the main difference between the current admissions campaign and all previous ones.

“This year, every applicant, having passed the competition, must decide exactly where he wants to enroll. Despite the fact that the admission rules state that an applicant can apply for admission to five universities in three directions each, the applicant must get his bearings in time and write a statement of consent to enroll in a specific specialty. Moreover, the right to write such an application is given only twice,” said Olga Betcher, head of the department for organizing the admission of students of the TSU New Enrollment Office.

Thus, if an applicant brings the originals of his documents, the competition will take place, but does not write an application on time - he will not be on the list for enrollment.

“If an applicant chose a university and a specialty, wrote an application, but suddenly decided to switch to another specialty, he will need to write an application to refuse the previously chosen specialty and write a new application,” Betcher emphasized.

You can write this application immediately after submitting documents or after the ratings appear - this is up to the applicant. The last day for accepting an application is also the last day for accepting documents for enrollment.

According to experts, this statement is being introduced to ensure that graduates “don’t get scattered” and become more career-oriented.

Let us add that enrollment in the university, as before, will take place in two waves. The first wave will include 80% of applicants, mainly those who submitted the original certificate to the university, and then the rest. When applying for government-funded places, a special quota is allocated for disabled children, orphans and children without parental care. At least 10% of the places in each specialty or area of ​​training are allocated for them. Also, universities must allocate from 2 to 5% of places for admission to persons permanently residing in the territory of Crimea.

What about extra points?

This year, according to the order of the Ministry of Education, each university is installing them. However, their total sum does not exceed ten points. Last year, an applicant could receive up to 10 points for an essay and up to 10 for other achievements (and the maximum threshold could be reduced by decision of the university).

But now, not only a school certificate with honors, but also diplomas of secondary vocational education and gold medals can bring additional points.

In addition, the validity period of the Olympiads has been extended - previously, only the results of the All-Russian Olympiads were valid for 4 years, now “ministerial” Olympiads have been added to them. That is, when entering the year of graduation, the child’s victories from the 7th grade are taken into account. However, the number of Unified State Exam points required to confirm the Olympiad also increased: from 65 to 75.

What are extra points awarded for this year?

Certificates with a medal are assessed at 4-7 points. Sports achievements (having the status of champion and prize-winner of the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and Deaflympic Games, world champion, European champion, winner of the world championship, European championship in sports included in the programs of the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and Deaflympic Games, presence of a sports category, presence of gold GTO mark) give from one (at TSPU) to eight (at TUSUR) additional points. Volunteer activities - 1-2 additional points.

Separately, universities take into account the results of Olympiads held at universities. TPU gives 4 points, up to 8 additional points can be obtained by participating in the TUSUR University Olympiad. The winners of the Siberian State Medical University Olympiad are given five additional points, the prize-winners - three, and the participants in the final stage - one point.

What about Crimea?

Last year there were special conditions for admission to graduates from Crimea. Passing the Unified State Exam was not mandatory for them; schoolchildren could take entrance exams directly at the university. At the same time, each university provided budget and paid places for Crimean schoolchildren.

As a result, only one student from Crimea entered Tomsk universities. The young man entered the Faculty of Economics of TSU with a degree in management.

This year, benefits for applicants from Crimea remain.
