Dutch DJ and producer (composer and performer) Sander van Doorn was recognized as Breakthrough of the Year in 2007 by dj mag magazine. His style is characterized by a mixture of styles - progressive, trance, tecnho, minimal, which significantly distinguishes his work from his older brothers in the shop - Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Paul van Dyk, etc.
Unlike electronic music of the 70s and 80s, aimed at accurately simulating the sound of real instruments, modern electronics have redirected to experimenting with new sounds and effects (in which FSOL played a major role in the 90s), which is enabled by the rapid development of modern software programs Apple Logic Pro, Ableton , Cubase, Fruity Loops Studio (by the way, the new Prodigy Invaders album Must Die was recorded on the most compact program) and software synthesizers such as Omnisphere for trance-like atmospheric background parts.
Those who are interested in electronic music and the process of composing it will be very interested in the video series of his master class in his home studio, recorded by the Dance Foundation TV channel. Sander very directly explains and performs how to write a line of drums, bass keyboards, main melody in software and how to mix effects to them - compression, attack, reverb (wave effect) and delay (delay), characteristic of progressive trance. He also introduces modern hardware synthesizers and mixers.
