| The temporary suspension of Evgeniy Nazdratenko has ended Today the fate of the disgraced head of the State Fisheries Committee, Evgeniy Nazdratenko, should be finally decided. Exactly a month ago, he was temporarily removed from office by order of Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov. Throughout this entire period, the country's main fisherman regularly went to work, but was deprived of the main happiness of an official - the right to sign documents. From today this happiness has become available to Mr. Nazdratenko. According to unspoken rules, the suspension lasts a month after which a final decision must be made. However, yesterday no decision had been made yet.
At the same time, oddly enough, officials in the White House were not aware of what would happen to Nazdratenko next. Everyone expressed themselves in the spirit that the decision should be made on the thirteenth, and on the thirteenth it will be made. As a high-ranking government source told our newspaper, “the government is not in trouble with regard to Nazdratenko. And the government can act on the principle “until the donkey dies,” the main thing is that the fish is alive.” Apparently, the White House expected that Yevgeny Nazdratenko would not withstand the pressure and would resign voluntarily. According to unofficial data, the decision on Mr. Nazdratenko should be made by the president. For most government members, the idea of Nazdratenko's possible return to office seems unacceptable.
The fact is that although formally the reason for such a severe punishment was the crisis situation in Primorye, however, government sources did not hide the fact that during his tenure as chief fisherman, Mr. Nazdratenko managed to ruin relations with absolutely all members of the government. As the Vremya Novostei newspaper has already written , Prime Minister Kasyanov initiated the resignation. Mr. Nazdratenko’s department did not issue licenses for the allocated fish quotas for almost two months, despite the fact that the government made all the necessary decisions on December 31 last year. Fishermen could not go to sea, and social tensions in the Primorsky Territory increased sharply, since the fishing season is limited to the winter months. In addition, as Mr. Kasyanov reported then, Evgeniy Nazdratenko tried to arbitrarily change the size of quotas by region. Mr. Nazdratenko had a different explanation. According to him, the governor of the Primorsky Territory, Sergei Darkin, distributed quotas exclusively to “his” enterprises, and the head of the GKR tried to prevent lawlessness. He even wrote a letter to the president outlining his position, however, there was no public response to it.
On the last day of anarchy, calm reigned in the State Fisheries Committee itself. As one of the committee workers told the Vremya Novostey newspaper, “there are no sobs coming from the offices.
