Before the hurricane, it rained heavily for almost the entire day, and several tornadoes formed over the sea. According to employees of the Sochi Hydrometeorological Observatory, these were the consequences of a cyclone that formed yesterday morning over Turkey and moved towards the coast of Sochi by noon.
The elements raged at the resort for no more than 40 minutes. At the time of preparation of the material, data on six seriously injured as a result of the disaster were recorded at the ambulance station and at the Sochi police department. But, as doctors and rescuers believe, the number of injured people will be greater - until the evening in the city, several ambulance teams and rescuers were working on calls and there was no data from them yet.
All victims were injured by fallen trees. According to preliminary data from the city administration, in the Central District alone, about a hundred trees fell, dozens of cars parked on the streets were smashed, the roofs of several houses were torn off, outdoor cafes were destroyed, and billboards were carried away and scattered throughout the city.
The most seriously injured, as of yesterday evening, were a 30-year-old man, a 21-year-old woman and a three-year-old girl. They were driving in a Zhiguli along Donskaya Street, and a huge poplar tree fell right on top of their car. A man and a woman with traumatic brain injuries, with numerous fractures, in serious condition were taken to city hospital No. 4, the girl, fortunately not seriously injured, was sent to the Sochi Children's Hospital.
