EXHIBITIONS
Illarion Golitsyn. 1928--2007. To the 80th birthday. A remarkable master of modern fine art, painter and graphic artist Illarion Golitsyn inherited the highest creative tradition of his teacher, the famous V.A. Favorsky. Having started in the 50s with linocuts, through free drawing he came to temperamental, dynamic painting and light-saturated watercolors. The exhibition includes paintings, graphics and sculptures from 1960-2006 from the collections of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the International Confederation of Artists' Unions and the master's family collection. Academy of Arts , until June 15.
“Citizens! Don’t forget, please!” YES. Prigov (1940--2007). The first large personal exhibition in Russia of the outstanding artist and poet Dmitry Prigov presents works from various periods of his work: works on paper, installation, book, performance, opera and recitation. A catalog was published for the exhibition - a richly illustrated gift edition, made in the aesthetics of the book and graphic works of D.A. Prigov. The book will include almost all types and genres of Prigov’s works: from video storyboards to poems, from installation projects to drawings on book reproductions. Moscow Museum of Modern Art , until June 15.
Luis Muñoz. "Station 05". Luis Muñoz was born and raised in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. The idea of becoming an artist was suggested to him by his father, a professional sailor and amateur watercolorist. At the age of 14, Luis Muñoz entered the Academy of Arts of Santo Domingo, and in the 1980s he began to study sculpture and contemporary art at the Madrid School of Fine Arts. Muñoz has always respected the classics of the 20th century: in his youth he was fond of the works of Picasso and Dali, and later he became closer to the masters of abstraction - Paul Klee, Piet Mondrian and Wassily Kandinsky. Luis Muñoz is an apologist for non-objective art, in which the aesthetic properties of the pictorial surface itself are more important than the plot. In his work, Muñoz follows the tradition of American abstract artists of the 1950s and 1960s, such as Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollock or Mark Rothko. Moscow Museum of Modern Art , until June 1.
