| Alexander Gerasimov will become Nikolai Senkevich’s new deputy The post of First Deputy General Director of NTV for Information and Broadcasting agreed to be taken by Alexander Gerasimov, who was previously Deputy General Director for Information and Socio-Political Broadcasting of the REN TV channel, as well as the presenter of the information and analytical release of the “24” program.
As a source in Gazprom told a correspondent of the Vremya Novostey newspaper, the arrival of Mr. Gerasimov to one of the key positions in the television company should “smooth out the tense situation that arose at NTV after Gazprom appointed Nikolai Senkevich and Alexei Zemsky to senior positions in the television company "
The current candidate of Gazprom is considered “one of our own” among the journalistic team and NTV management. Under the leadership of Oleg Dobrodeev and Evgeny Kiselev, Mr. Gerasimov worked at the television company from the beginning of its activities - since 1993. For three years he was the host of the programs “Today”, “Today at Midnight” and “Press Rating”, after which he served as deputy editor-in-chief of the NTV information service, where he oversaw morning and afternoon information blocks, and then as deputy general director of NTV on regional broadcasting. In April 2001, after Boris Jordan’s team joined the channel, Alexander Gerasimov, together with Evgeny Kiselev and part of the team, left the channel, and a few months later accepted an offer to head the information and socio-political broadcasting of REN TV.
Mr. Gerasimov himself is in no hurry to talk about his next steps. “I’m not ready to talk yet. Let’s wait for Monday,” he told a Vremya Novostei newspaper correspondent. However, many at NTV believe that the new chief of news broadcasting will not take drastic steps against journalists. “I think that with the arrival of Alexander Gerasimov, there will be no “public flogging”, and the company will function normally,” said the interlocutor of the Vremya Novostei newspaper correspondent at the television company.
