
The lawyer of the former member of the Federation Council from the Legislative Assembly of Bashkiria Igor Izmestiev appealed to his client on Friday. According to ITAR-TASS in court, a brief cassation appeal was filed. According to the law, there are 10 days to submit a cassation application.
The lawyer invites to cancel the court order and appoint an Izmestev measure of restraint, not related to deprivation of liberty. On January 18, the Basmanny Court of Moscow issued the arrest of Izmestiev, thus satisfying the petition of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
From the court decision it follows that being free, Izmestyev can "hide from the investigation, put pressure on witnesses and destroy evidence."
Izmestiev is suspected, according to the investigation, at the organization of the murder of notary Galina Perepelkina - the wife of his former business partner Yuri Bushev, as well as in tax evasion and an attempt to give a bribe an FSB officer.
The special operation to detain Igor Izmestiev in the Kyrgyzstan neighboring with Russia was conducted over the past Wednesday by the FSB officers in interaction with the Kyrgyz colleagues. The defense of the ex-Senator calls his detention "abduction."
