The chief designer of the brand Monkey Business Aden told Lookatme about how he comes up with different cool things that you can see here and how much his brand is popular in Israel. The conversation was held directly at the exhibition of industrial design of Desing Act surrounded by visitors going back and forth and therefore turned out to be small, but substantial.
Hello! You initially wanted to create only simple things?
We are trying to make products with a sense of humor, convenient and so that they save people from small daily problems. When we decide to create something, we first look for a problem, not a solution. The solution is much easier to find. And if you observe people, their lives, you can see that each of them has its own solution to each problem-everyone adapts differently. It may not be productive, but they are so comfortable. And when I see that I can help them, make their life easier, then I will transfer it to the design. For example: many people hang stickers on the wall to write some reminders there. Also, everyone knows signs that are hung on the door handle in hotels with the inscription "Do not disturb". So, we decided to combine this and made a sign on the door handle with the inscription "Do not forget". And we give people this kind of solution from everyday problems.

Do you remember what was the first thing you came up with?
I was very creative from early childhood. And I remember when I was a child, I painted a lot and always showed my parents what I drew. And they always told me “wow! How great you drew everything! " And exactly the feeling of a small child still haunts me, and I try to experience the same feeling every time I come up with something-it means that I do what I need. And now the people who buy our products say to me: “Wow! How cool you came up with everything! " Therefore, my feeling of satisfaction is exactly the same as in childhood.
And what exactly affects you?
Everything around. Most of my products are two things that are unit. In theory, these things cannot coexist together, and I do what seems impossible for many.
What do you think of Design Act?
It is cool and very funny! I enjoy such exhibitions.
What do you think of today's young designers?
Now I am teaching at the university, in which I once studied myself. In Jerusalem. The uniqueness of the Academy of Design is that there are a lot of young talented, creative people with incredible energy. And I really like it. I teach there once a week and every time I am there, I feel their incredible energy, I see how they try - everyone is hung with their backpacks with sketches and work. It's amazing! I enjoy this and I definitely like to work with young designers.
Are your designer things popular in Israel?
Yes. This is a small country, and people who are more or less inernal, very much appreciate designer things. Everyone knows our products and our goods are sold in many shopping centers. So we can say that in Israel they love us - we have regular customers who look at our shops to just chat with us.
