FIRST NORWEGIAN FILM FESTIVAL at 35 MM
“Kurt Goes Wild” (Norway-Denmark, 2008, Rasmus A. Siversten). Burlesque cartoon based on a series of books by Erlend Lu about a simple working guy Kurt, a European relative of Homer Simpson. May 21, 19.30; May 22, 15.00.
“In the Power of a Woman” (2007, Petter Näss). The film adaptation of Erlend Lu's first novel about the mutual attraction and repulsion of a man and a woman is a kind of calling card of the new entertaining cinema of Norway. May 21, 21.40.
“Cold Lunch” (2008, Eva Sørhaug). The story begins with problems identified by the credits as minor: Christer was pooped on by a bird, he is forced to use the laundry in a nearby house, he is clumsy and, instead of doing quick laundry, he cuts off power to the entire condominium, which indirectly leads to the death of the autistic father Leni and the blows received by housewife Heidi from husband. Further - more... May 22, 16.20.
"Lucky" (2009, Sarah Johnsen). A mosaic melodrama about the lines of life that connected several destinies. A chaste erotic scene towards the end reveals the director’s familiarity with the work of Andrei Tarkovsky, and in its structure “Lucky” is reminiscent of Lukas Moodysson’s film “Mammoth”. However, there are fewer overwhelming ambitions in the Norwegian film, and more charming sentimentality, which is why the obvious melodrama here is not annoying. May 22, 18.00; May 23, 20.20.
"The End of St. Petersburg." Directed by Vsevolod Pudovkin. A silent film classic, filmed in 1927, and music specially composed for it by two musicians from Norway and one from Petrozavodsk as a concert accompaniment to the film screening. May 22, 21.00.
"Shooting the Sun" (2009, Paul Yakman). The old sea wolf Eyvind wants to sail to the other side of the country - to where his beloved, the Eskimo Beatrice, lives. Doctors and friends convince the grumpy and quarrelsome old man to think about his health - his heart is steadily enlarging, which is fraught with death... May 23, 17.00.
“The Last Shot” (2008, Ulrik Imtiaz Rolfsen). Reflections on drugs, times and the illusions inherent in them are one of the sides of the film, while the other, no less valuable, varies from the buddy movie, a special film genre about real male friendship. May 23, 18.40.
