To overcome stress, managers were asked to strip naked
Western employers are very creative in choosing ways to rehabilitate employees in the face of staff reductions and fierce competition for jobs. Thus, the management of the marketing company One best way from Newcastle, as reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Daily Mail, followed the lead of a corporate psychologist and organized a “Naked Friday” in the office. According to the idea of psychologist David Taylor, the work of all employees in the nude was supposed to unite the team and defuse the situation in the company, which has already reduced staff six times since the beginning of the crisis.
At the same time, as the publication notes, no one forced marketers to participate in the nudist corporate event. Before undressing in front of their colleagues, the employees actively discussed the training proposed by the psychologist. “It took us one week of David being in the office to become confident. The first steps were nerve-racking, but as soon as I sat down at my desk and got used to this state, I felt absolutely comfortable,” said one of the company’s managers, 23-year-old Sam Jackson. On the appointed day, almost all employees worked completely naked. “They didn’t put any pressure on us. If we wanted to come in clothes or underwear, we could. But I love my body, and I’m not embarrassed by it at all,” the employees shared their impressions. Both staff and management note that the methodology actually allowed all employees to “talk honestly to each other” and the atmosphere in the company improved significantly. “It was wonderful. When we saw each other naked, all barriers disappeared,” Ms. Jackson said. As the company's management notes, the experiment was a complete success, since along with the growth of employees' self-esteem, the company's income also increased. And the company, which had previously been forced to cut staff, hired two new designers. Now the company is ready to share its experience in applying the anti-crisis corporate dress code. This week, an experiment in the form of a one-episode show “The Naked Office” will be shown on one of the British channels. “This experience gave us the boost we needed,” says CEO Mike Owen. But most of all, it seems, the psychologist himself was amazed by the results. “This can only be done after much thought. This method seems strange, but it has proven to be very productive. It creates great confidence in yourself and in the people around you,” said Mr. Taylor. It is noteworthy that methods of complete social emancipation are used in the West not only to improve mutual understanding within the team, but also to find a common language with clients. In particular, one of the New Zealand airlines released a video briefing for passengers on safety measures during the flight, where crew members appear in flight attendant costumes painted on their naked bodies. Air New Zealand is confident that the use of body art will attract the attention of even the most irresponsible passengers. At the same time, the company managed not only to test the crew’s loyalty, but also to save significantly. The “Bare Basics of Safety,” lasting 3 minutes 28 seconds and a 45-second television ad, according to news agencies, cost the airline 10-15% of the cost of traditional advertising.
