The World Weightlifting Championships are taking place in Antalya, Turkey, where Russian athletes have already won eight medals - three gold, three silver and two bronze.

Natalya Zabolotnaya (293 kg) and Nadezhda Evstyukhina (283 kg), who won silver and bronze, won the championship in the weight category up to 75 kg. The victory here was won by weightlifter from Kazakhstan Svetlana Podobedova.
As part of the Russian men's team, Alexander Ivanov (up to 94 kg), Alexey Yufkin (up to 85 kg), as well as Dmitry Klokov and Vladimir Smorchkov (up to 105 kg) distinguished themselves. Ivanov became the champion of the world championship, lifting a total of 403 kg. He also received a small gold medal for the snatch of 185 kg and was second in the clean and jerk with 218 kg. Yufkin became the silver medalist, gaining 380 kg in the all-around total (172+208) and lost only to Pole Andrian Zelinsky - 383 kg. In the weight category up to 105 kg, Dmitry Klokov and Vladimir Smorchkov took second and third places. They were ahead of Pole Marcin Dolega, who showed a total result of 415 kg. Klokov also finished the tournament with the same result, but due to his greater personal weight, he lost the championship title to the Pole.
Kleybanova and Kudryavtseva won WTA tournaments
Two Russian tennis players Alisa Kleybanova (pictured) and Alla Kudryavtseva became winners of tournaments in Seoul and Tashkent. In Korea, Kleybanova beat Czech Klara Zakopalova in the final - 6:1, 6:3, and Kudryavtseva defeated her compatriot Elena Vesnina in Tashkent - 6:4, 6:4. The first title was certainly special, but the second one gives me more confidence and proves that the first one was not luck, an accident. I deserve it and I'm strong enough to win more. This will definitely help me on my way to the TOP 20. I know that this will not happen this second, but the victory makes me believe,” the official BTA website quotes the tennis player as saying.
Russian chess players are not on top yet
All three Russian women's teams won the 39th World Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk. The first team with a score of 2.5:1.5 turned out to be stronger than the Chinese. Nadezhda Kosintseva and Valentina Gunina won, Alexandra Kosteniuk lost, and Tatyana Kosintseva tied the game.

The World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships ended in Moscow, where Russian athletes won 14 medals - eight gold, five silver and one bronze. Of the nine sets of awards (five individual and four team), domestic athletes failed to reach the highest awards in only one event - in the group all-around, where they lost to the Italians and Belarusians, closing the top three.
However, on the last day of the competition, Valentina Ivanitskaya’s wards redeemed themselves for their failure and excelled in the two remaining disciplines - an exercise with five hoops, as well as with three ribbons and two jump ropes.
