Hello, my name Vlad Minin. Do you probably remember how I recently traveled to the Americans on the bike, fighting with the hypodynamia of humanity? After I then got to the Arctic coast of Alaska in a place with the positive name "dead horse" and fell into the "black blizzard" I can not forget the north. It was then in the spring in Alaska that I had a daring thought to cross Bering Strait on drifting ice on a snowmobile, and already in the fall of 2010 the plan and name of the future expedition was ready: “Bering a breakthrough”.

Vancouver Downtown
A long road to the north.
When the organizational part of the expedition was almost completed, I went north for training. I needed conditions of extremely negative temperatures and the presence of snowmobiles. For these purposes, I chose the most northern state of Canada - Northwest Territories and went beyond the polar circle with his wife.
This was our first New Year, which we met together in the tundra cracking from the frost at 12:00 in Moscow and this was the first New Year, when immediately after 12:00 local time I fell asleep deadly, exhausted from fatigue. But before that, we still had to do a close path.

Only one flight from Moscow to Vancouver, which took more than 12 hours with a 10 -hour transplant in Amsterdam, can be considered an extreme event. To this, it should be added 2.5 hours of flight to the town with a typical North American name "White Horse" and then three more days by car along the ice road through the snow -capped tundra to the polar circle.

To move in these harsh edges, I chose an already proven car with all -wheel drive Chevrolet Suburban and as soon as all the formalities were settled, we immediately headed for the north. Behind our hefty crook there was a temperature of -40, and I, like the last time in Alaska, was only in jeans and a light jacket while all my high -tech equipment NorthFace was waiting for severe trials.
We rode on the dumpster Highwei, one of the northern and wild roads of the world of more than 700 kilometers in one of the northern northern settlements of Inuvik. With the advancement to the north, the conditions became harder, on an icy road there were now and then snowsters of snow more than a meter high, the heating system of the salon barely coped with icing glass, and the brake discs stuck to the blocks, as soon as we stop. In a few hours of journey along the pristine, untouched by civilization of the area, where there are hundreds of kilometers around, gas stations and people in general, we only met a pair of cars passing by, which pleased and scared at the same time if the car breaks help not soon. On the second day of the journey in the complete darkness of the polar night, we reached the IGLL PLELNS working road station, located 50 kilometers to the polar circle, where the Slagbaum blocked us with the terrifying inscription "Road Closed".

Demuster Highwei
Demuster Highwey, it is also highway No. 5 in Yuon and Highway 8 in the northwestern territories. It is a ground road of year -round use. During the winter months, the highway increases by 194 km to the village of TukToyaktuk, on the northern coast of Canada, using the ice coating of the frozen Delta of the Mackenzie River. Highwey crosses the Pil and Mackenzie rivers, using a combination of seasonal crossings from ferries and ice bridges.
The road begins about 40 km (25 miles) east of the city of Dawson, Yukon and extends 736 km (457 miles) to the village of Inuvik.

For several days at the bottom of the valley, a snow purge raged, which brought the road and posed a great danger, but despite this, learning about changing weather conditions from local residents, without waiting for road services, decided to break through the blockade. Although I had to violate the official rules, I acted on the situation and the very next day we were behind the polar circle, instead of waiting for the weather. I know this is not good, but what to do, I always have to break something. We rejoiced like children, noting the second intersection of the polar circle in one year. We still did not know that we had to urgently return the car from Inuvik to a white horse. That in Suburban all butter will be produced and a transmission will break in a place where there is no connection, people, water, food, gasoline, and there is only a lonely howling cold, and to a request for help that we were able to send on the radio, we will be informed: "You are in the middle, we cannot help you now, we do what we can ..."

New Year.
New Year's Eve, at 12:00 in Moscow. We stopped the car right in the middle of the dumpster highway, surrounded by black trees and permafrost, took out an orange and whiskey, creating a traditional New Year's table on the hood. I love to drink, well, you know, for the soul, but for absolute sobriety at the wheel always and everywhere, even where there is never a police, so we tucked our new friend GMC Yukon, whom we bring to us in return for the broken Suburban the next day, excellent whiskey right in the tank and went on.

Everything, as always in my case, ended well, thanks to the ingenuity, perseverance, and most importantly, faith in victory. We drove in a car of 2500 km through permafrost, I conducted training in the vicinity of the White Horse, where there were everything: snowmobiles, impenetrable forests, endless fields, rivers and lakes, snowdrifts to the waist, and most importantly, the tests of all reserves of the body and technology.

And you know what? I am ready for northern adventures!
I'll just go and do it.
