Stephen Soderberg officially completed his career as a film director, but he did not say anything like this about television. His last work-“For Candeles” about the famous pianist liberal-is somewhere on the border between TV and the big movie: the film was shown in the competition of the Cannes Film Festival, but it will not be released, and the American premiere will be held on the Sunday on the HBO channel. Now the director plans to remove for the Cinemax channel, which belongs to HBO, a series of ten episodes.

Soderberg will become the director and producer of the project under the title of The Knick. The series will unfold in 1900 at the Knickerbroker Hospital New York Hospital (hence the name). The heroes will be employees of this institution. The main role, according to Indiewire , should be played by Clive Owen.
This is not the first television project with which the name of Sodaberg has been associated recently. The director himself recently said that he had conceived the twelve -party film adaptation of John Bart's “Durman merchant”, but this idea, apparently, has not yet been developed.
