Muslims all over the world began the holy month of Ramadan on May 17. Every adult Muslim adheres to strict fasting for 30 days of Ramadan from dawn to dusk. During Ramadan, no food or drink is allowed during the daytime. Muslims can eat only after sunset, after reading the evening prayer, which is called “Maghreb”. After this, Iftar is the breaking of the fast, the evening meal.
The public organization "Union of Dagestan Peoples" of the Tomsk region on Saturday, May 26, organized an Iftar for parishioners of the White Cathedral Mosque. Any Muslim could come there. Our correspondent Alexander Sakalov spent the evening in the mosque and prepared a photo report.
The tables were covered with dishes of Caucasian and Dagestan cuisine, vegetables, fruits, cold drinks and oriental sweets. About 200 visitors to the White Cathedral Mosque of Tomsk gathered for the evening meal, Iftar.
The “Union of Dagestan Peoples” will also organize Iftar on Saturday, June 9, 2018.
