| Women's boxing becomes Olympic
The Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee included several more events in the Olympic program. Already in London in 2012, women's boxing will debut at the Olympics. Women's medals will be competed in three weight categories. The next Olympics should also feature a mixed doubles tournament in tennis - the federation for this sport only needs to finalize the competition program, and then a positive decision will be made in December.
And in 2016, the Olympic Games program may include competitions in two new sports - golf and rugby sevens. The decision to include golf and rugby sevens in the Olympic family must still be ratified at the IOC session, which will take place in October in Copenhagen. The capital of the 2016 Olympic Games will also be chosen. Both golf and rugby have had Olympic sport status in the past. In golf, for example, medals were awarded in 1900 in Paris and four years later in St. Louis. And rugby competitions (at that time it was a type of rugby-15) were held in 1924. Afterwards these sports were considered unpopular. But in five years, 12 men's and women's teams will take part in the Olympic rugby sevens competition. The golf tournament will have 60 participants and participants.
In addition, decisions were made about changes in which disciplines of other sports medals will be awarded. The most significant reforms are in kayaking and canoeing. It was decided to replace the men's double canoe (500 m) with a women's single kayak (200 m), and also replace the men's single kayak, double kayak and single canoe (all 500 m) with similar 200-meter distances. Thus, the 500 m distance for men completely disappeared from the Olympic program.
The mass may return soon
Brazilian Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa could return to the Grand Prix this season. According to Corriere dello Sport, the Ferrari driver, who had a serious accident at the Hungarian Grand Prix, has a chance to take part in the Italian Grand Prix on September 13. But for this, the Brazilian will need to undergo a medical examination in Paris at the International Motor Sports Federation, whose experts will decide in early September whether it is dangerous for Massa to return to racing practice.
At the next European Grand Prix, Massa will be replaced at the wheel of a Ferrari car not by Michael Schumacher, but by the team's test driver Luca Badoer. Schumacher was forced to refuse to return to the “Big Prizes” due to cracks in the neck. Prepared by Andrey VDOVIN
