| Yesterday, the Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation named the culprit in the plane crash of two Su-27 aircraft from the Russian Knights aerobatic team that crashed at the MAKS air show in August last year. According to the investigation, the emergency occurred due to a violation of flight rules committed by the commander of the Knights, Colonel Igor Tkachenko. Now he will not be able to answer for himself, since he died in that disaster. The plane crash of two Su-27 aircraft, part of the Russian Knights, occurred on August 16 during a training flight before the display of aircraft at the MAKS-2009 air show, which took place in Zhukovsky near Moscow from August 18 to 23. While performing aerobatic maneuvers, two fighters collided and fell, but all three pilots managed to eject. The commander of the “Russian Knights” of the guard, Colonel Igor Tkachenko, flying in tandem with navigator Igor Kurylenko, was found dead on the ground. His partner and the pilot of the second plane, Vitaly Melnik, were not seriously injured during landing.
