To allow or prohibit spring hunting - today this issue was decided by ecologists, ornithologists, hunters and representatives of the Department of Natural Resources. The Chinese flu was not discussed: migratory birds fly to us from India and Iraq, but there is no flu there. In any case, sick birds simply will not reach us. But there are many other problems with spring hunting. Spring hunting for waterfowl has been prohibited in Canada and the United States since 1913, in the countries of the European Union it has not been carried out since the 90s, and in Georgia since 1972. In Ukraine, this year a law was passed that permanently prohibits spring hunting. To be or not to be - the question arose before the Tomsk region. The arguments of opponents of spring hunting - in the spring, the best producers are shot - the strongest and hardiest birds that have flown to us, having covered a thousand kilometers. Geese are monogamous; if you kill one of the pair, the surviving bird will no longer nest. Even a law-abiding hunter will not always distinguish a female from a male. If there is no female, there will be no brood in the fall. And yet, the main argument concerns not the physiological and mental characteristics of birds, but their quantity.
At the same time, deprive the male part of the population of the opportunity for spring relaxation, and the social consequences can be the most unpredictable. They say that spring hunting not only guarantees family peace for the long May holidays, but also eases political tension in the country.
In any case, a significant part of the population lives in the hope of being able to walk through the forest with a gun. And if you deprive her of such an opportunity, you need to weigh the pros and cons. The meeting nevertheless recommended closing the spring hunt for monogamous geese, but the main emphasis was placed on the need to systematically study everything that flies towards us and past. After all, the easiest way to determine whether to give permission to hunt or not is to know where, who and how much. In this case, maintaining balance will not be a problem.
