Hockey: World Championship

Today at the World Hockey Championship there will be six matches, the central one of which not only for Russians, but also for all hockey fans will be the eternal derby √ Russia √ Canada. In this match we will be able to evaluate the real strength of our team, which previously easily beat the Italians and Norwegians with a total score of 11:0. After a humiliating failure at the last World Championships in St. Petersburg, the Russians simply need to restore their reputation. Otherwise, our once great hockey power risks settling firmly at the end of the top ten in the world rankings. So, today in Hannover the national team of Russia and Canada will take to the ice of the Preussag Arena at 22:00 Moscow time to, in particular, resolve the issue of leadership in Group D.

According to the Internet review "All Hockey", the head coach of the Russian national team Boris Mikhailov is dissatisfied with the play of the Russian legionnaire from the San Jose Sharks Alexander Korolyuk and at yesterday's training sent him to the fourth line with Kazan Pavel Datsyuk and Anton But from Yaroslavl Lokomotiv , who has already scored two goals in this tournament. Instead of Korolyuk in the first line with Yashin and Karpov, Mikhailov decided to try Magnitogorsk “metallurgist” Yuri Kuznetsov. In justification for the former leader of Moscow's Krylia Sovetov, it is worth noting that the management of San Jose practically deprived him of playing practice, and the talented forward did not take part in cup games at all. We will find out very soon whether Kuznetsov will retain his registration in the first line. All that remains is to wish good luck to our squad, which has not only wounded pride on its side, but also conditions that are more familiar to Russians - a wide area and a red line.

In addition, in Group A the hosts of the tournament will compete with the Belarusians, in Group B the Finnish team will face a difficult match with the Slovaks, and the Japanese will play with the Austrians. And finally, in Group C, Tre Kronur will fight with the US team, and the Ukrainians will try to win their first victory in this tournament in the match with the Latvian team.
