Tomsk State University spent 1 million rubles restoring books damaged as a result of the flooding. Let me remind you that two weeks ago the roof of the old building of the scientific library leaked. Several thousand rare and valuable books, including two- and three-century-old rarities, were flooded with water. Today, TSU Rector Georgy Mayer shared plans for the restoration of rare books. Today it is difficult to name the exact amount of damage. Philologists call the damaged fund priceless. Experts seriously call the loss of just one collection of the Zhukovsky Library a tragedy. A commission worked at Tomsk State University for two weeks. She had to find out who was to blame for what happened. And also decide how to restore damaged rarities. The commission admitted the guilt of the library management. The director was reprimanded for mismanagement. Over the past three years, the university has spent enormous amounts of money on renovations to the science building. The human factor made these expenses useless. Now we had to invest another million in eliminating the accident. The repair itself will cost 250 thousand rubles. Equipment for drying and restoration of books was purchased for another 700. Although, they say that most of the rare book collection is lost forever.
