The first Bitsa ponds in the Bitsa recreation area practically disappeared from the face of the earth as a result of heavy rain that broke out on Saturday evening in the south of Moscow. Powerful flows washed away the dams that divided the reservoirs into several multi-level cascades. As a result, the water simply left the First Ponds located above the other ponds - previously their depth was more than two and a half meters, but now they were no deeper than 40 centimeters. All the water from the ponds went down, flooding part of the Bitsevsky forest park adjacent to the Butovo microdistrict of the capital. Moreover, the mud flow from the hills continued to flow on Sunday. About ten trees were also uprooted by the disaster. A special city commission has been created to restore the park’s landscape.
