The Moscow disco punk group Dot Dash can rightfully be considered the most interesting debut of the outgoing year. In less than a year, the guys performed at several venues, the most famous of which were the picnic of the magazine Poster and Thriller in Solyanka. In turn, we invited Zhenya, Dima and Roma to ask them what they themselves think about everything that was happening.

Only from the election?

Dima: I was going all a month, even a debate looked with Zhirinovsky in a pink jacket, well, just because of a hangover after the party I didn’t get stupidly. In principle, I just wanted to come and not give my vote for United Russia, because I feel that soon we will return to the one -party parliament, again we will return to the scoop. I also heard the story that now they will choose a new president, six months later he dies from a terrible illness, and the type of re -election and choose Putin. Well, I do not participate in any rallies, protests. It’s just that we don’t have Italy, they have money there if they don’t pay money, they are mobilized quickly, a wave of protest. And we just have a fuck for everyone. Now everything is going on to the fact that people are starting to think about it, as if our generation seems better to me in this regard, more open. But in general, I prefer to score my head with something.

Have you thought about raising various social issues in the texts?

Zhenya: Why?! Let people do this who initially do in order to change something in society.

I like to live in Russia or maybe you would like to leave to live abroad?

Dima: It’s cool to live in Russia. You can yell what you want from the stage and you will not be anything for it, and it's cool. In Russia, this is all solved at other levels, not like in other countries. I had a fight with a guard there - the problem was solved ... I gave the ment of money - the problem was solved ... I would have moved to St. Petersburg. I really like it there in general, I immediately think - whether I can move there, because in St. Petersburg it is not a pity to spend time in vain. In Moscow, a turmoil, and if I do nothing, then it begins to torment my conscience that I am not doing anything, I spend some of my life on some kind of shit, on a drinking drink. And in St. Petersburg, it is not a pity to spend time on this somehow.

We heard about the changes in the composition. What happened there?

Dima: Arseny, our former bassist, came and said: "I want something destructive." He said "I have a garbage with my studies, and there is not enough time for anything, and there is no time for DOT DASH."

Zhenya: He has another project - Dementicarmi Non!, Such no wave. So he said that he was playing there and closer to him. And we are just a booth.

Roma: And Dima just called me, said "Arseny left, come to our bass." In the beginning, he just played on a seven, at the picnic of the posters even. Then he began to rehearse regularly with them with Sortler. Now here is the bass.

Zhenya: And the drummer actually simply could not withstand the tension and ran away from the photo shoot ..

Dima: He just had his own ideas there, but we didn’t really listen to him, well, he was tired of it. He did not want to compromise about many questions.

Zhenya: Now Sasha Astafyev plays on drums. By the way, he plays in the St. Petersburg Airlines in the summer and excellent DJ!

Are there any musical projects besides Dot Dash?

Dima: Well, we have another musical project with Roma and Mikla. It is still not called. Such, kier -like music. Mikles played with us even earlier in The Burglars.

Zhenya: Business is going on, yes ..

Tell us how you got to the posting picnic?

Zhenya: Yes elementary! At the next Idle Conversation I approached Roman Mazurenko, gave him a disc. He listened, and he really liked it. Actually, he shoved us into the picnic. Moreover, the funny thing, the poster took a demo from various new groups, then put them on a small scene, but we did not pass. But in the end, we performed on this picnic thanks to Idle Conversation.

And something gave you what you got on the cover of the posters?

Zhenya: Well, just people who regularly read the poster, heard a new name, listened to a new song for themselves, expressed their opinion and forgot .. Well, for mom, my mother appreciated ... It is nice that they drew attention to us, although by and large, it was undeservedly. How would it all be because of one song I think ..

But it does not seem strange to you that they did not want to take you on a picnic at first, and then put the photo with you on the cover?

Zhenya: Well, most likely, because of all this hype around Idle Conversation and Triller. In general, the Magazine of the poster is subject to all kinds of influences, trends. Although it seems like the editor -in -chief admired us.

Will there be official releases?

Zhenya: Yes. It is still unknown when. When we come up with songs .. We hope in the middle of next year there will already be some release. There is not enough money ..

Roma: I even have no money for travel in the subway.

Zhenya: And the clips will be! Again, we do not know when. We are waiting for help!

They heard you were called to visit the Maximum radio. Tell us in more detail what is there!

Zhenya: Yes, on the Maximum radio stations there is a program biology with the left and shura from the Bi-2. This is a program about modern rock music. That is, there is a rotation of the Maximum radio, and there is still a fool there, and through some of the acquaintances, the transmission editors drank our phones and asked to come to visit. Put our favorite songs there and talk about modern music.

Or maybe it will happen that the DOT DASH group will suddenly play in a different style?

Roma: Well, here are the new songs that we are doing now, they are already in a slightly different style, spanked such, punk fank.

Zhenya: Well, this is a constant process, it cannot be influenced in any way. Just over time, some things affect us more and more, and at a certain moment they are in the foreground for us and we will allow a little change in the sound.

How do you feel about trends, influences?

Zhenya: Well, we are actually being conducted, we are on trends. I can’t say that some are now the most relevant for us, but they are, and now it’s hard, living in modern society, not to reckon with them. You try to keep abreast of to just adequately assess the situation of what is happening in a particular area ..

Dima: As soon as you understand that it is cool - every interest disappears to things. I do not spit on the ceiling, of course I also think about such things, but if I like something, then I like it, not because it is a trend or not a trend, but because it is.

How did you come up with a name, by the way?

Dima: Well, we needed to give a demo for Avant, we recorded it, already stupidly sat in the car and we need to go out and give the demo in our hands, and someone asked: “What name is to write?” And in general, it was just interesting for myself to come up with good names, made a bunch of lists, but I did not like any of them, well, I didn’t like all that we came up with. And I said that there is a DOT DASH ... There is just such a song by the Wire group, well, the guys said "yes, beautifully." At the last moment, in general, they came up with ... I think if the name would be different, then the group would not be picked up so.

How do you feel about drugs?

Dima: I have a positive attitude .. I just think that if someone likes it, then please. In general, as it were, this is primarily a certain Expirence. Everyone has their own head on the shoulders. If a person is just blowing, then for me this person is just stupid. But for me, a drug addict is not a bad person. It is bad when a person becomes simply uncontrollable.

Zhenya: Well, as for parties, DJ, drugs are an integral part of all this, it’s just some kind of additional incentive to have a good time, that is, you want to communicate, dance. Therefore, this is not only good or bad, just doping. But when it strongly affects loved ones, it is very cracked.

Are you planning to promote your music to the West?

Zhenya: Well, recently one acquaintance came up and said, “here I have a job, I collected a demo material with Karateka with Aerobika and now I am sending to Germany.” There is some kind of distribution of them, and offered us our material, which is, also send us. But this is not a advance to the West. It seems to me that for a Russian group that plays British music, there is no future in the West. Firstly, because they have a million such groups, and I believe that this is their way of life, this is their culture. That is, it is stupid, for example, in Moscow to play British POP in order to achieve something in Britain. It is very cool when it turns out high quality and interesting, and people like it.

Dima: Yes, it is generally stupid to engage in music, in order to succeed and become a star. If you like to do this, you are doing this, and if you come up with any goals, then this is not music, but business. We just like to make good music for ourselves. If someone, God forbid, will like it, and all this develops, then it is cool. It's just that the whole point is what we do - we play for ourselves. And the fact that we achieved something is all just so. Yes, in general, and the group is shit ...
