The Russian volleyball team has 22 candidates

A preliminary application for the Russian men's team to participate in the World League, which starts in mid-June, has been sent to the International Volleyball Federation. At the group stage, our team will play in the same quartet with Italy, Cuba and Korea. By the start of the tournament, the list of 22 candidates compiled by head coach Vladimir Alekno should be reduced to 19 names.

Here's who can count on participating in the World League for now: setters - Sergei Grankin (Dynamo, Moscow), Vadim Khamuttskikh (Fakel, Novy Urengoy), Oleg Samsonychev (Iskra, Odintsovo), Konstantin Lesik (Lokomotiv -Belogorye", Belgorod); diagonal forwards - Semyon Poltavsky, Pavel Kruglov (both Dynamo M), Alexey Cheremisin (Dynamo-Yantar, Kaliningrad), Maxim Mikhailov (Yaroslavich); central blockers - Alexey Kuleshov (Iskra), Alexander Volkov, Alexey Ostapenko (both Dynamo M), Alexey Kazakov (Ural, Ufa), Andrey Egorchev (Dynamo-TTG, Kazan); finishers - Yuri Berezhko, Alexander Korneev (both Dynamo M), Pavel Abramov (Iskra), Dmitry Krasikov (Lokomotiv-Belogorye), Sergei Tetyukhin, Alexander Kosarev (both Dynamo-TTG) ); libero - Alexey Verbov (Iskra), Alexander Yanutov (Gazprom-Yugra, Surgut district), Alexander Sokolov (Yaroslavich).

Lesik, Krasikov, Cheremisin and Mikhailov can debut in the national team at the official level. Egorchev has not competed in tournaments under the auspices of the FIVB and CEV since 2005, and Sokolov has not been on the roster for four seasons. It is noteworthy that the application includes volleyball players from nine super league clubs, but there are no representatives of Lokomotiv-Izumrud (Ekaterinburg), Novosibirsk Lokomotiv and Ugra-Samotlor (Nizhnevartovsk).
