Basketball. NBA. Regular season. Atlanta -- Clippers -- 97:121, New Jersey -- Denver -- 114:70, Milwaukee -- Detroit -- 121:126 (OT), Dallas -- "Chicago" -- 115:114 (OT), "Philadelphia" -- "Miami" -- 94:84, "Memphis" -- "Toronto" -- 78:70, "Houston" -- "Minnesota" -- 107:90.
Two basketball players managed to score 44 points at once. This is the scoring indicator of the German forward of “Dallas” Dirk Nowitzki and the defender of “Milwaukee” Ramon Session. The difference is that the sniper qualities of the basketball player from Germany helped his team win in overtime, but for Milwaukee the extra five minutes turned out poorly. Nowitzki made 34 field goals and converted all 11 free throws, Session attacked 18 times (free throws - 18/21), and also made a dozen assists. Detroit forward Tayshaun Prince played his 500th regular season game. Denver, which lost by 44 points on the road, suffered its biggest defeat of the season.
The league decided to fine Boston head coach Doc Rivers for insulting the referees during a 109-110 match with the Lakers on February 5.
Avery entered into waiver draft

“Vancouver” scored four goals at once while realizing a numerical majority, and already in the middle of the second period the Canadian club won against “Chicago” with a score of 6:1. The victory for Washington was brought by Mike Green's double in the final 20 minutes. The last puck flew into the empty goal of Florida, which replaced the goalkeeper with an extra field player. Capital forward Alexander Ovechkin made 12 shots on target and for the sixth match in a row he has been scoring points using the goal plus pass system. Russian Sergei Samsonov was recognized as the second star of the game day.
Infamous power forward Sean Avery was put up by Dallas for the waiver draft. Let us remind you that Avery has not played since the end of November after he was disqualified by the club’s management for making unflattering statements about two NHL hockey players who knew his ex-girlfriend.
UMMC took revenge on CSKA
In the central match of the week of the Women's Super League championship, Ekaterinburg UMMC in Moscow defeated CSKA - 68:42, taking revenge for a major home defeat in the first round, because of which French coach Laurent Bouffard was dismissed.
At the beginning of the year, Buffard was replaced on the coaching bridge by the former “helmsman” of CSKA, Latvian Gundars Vetra, who now met with his former team for the first time. The top scorer for the winners was Poland's Agnieszka Bibrzycka (24 points), who made six accurate long-range shots. CSKA failed in the second half of the match, losing 15:37 in those 20 minutes. In the final quarter, the hosts were able to score only five points. Playmaker of the Red-Blues, naturalized Russian Becky Hammon, believes that this was the worst game of her life. The Muscovites' coach Igor Grudin, despite the major defeat, said that his players do not give up thoughts of fighting for first place in the championship.
Steiert's team is far from the podium
This is not the first season that the President of the Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Federation of Russia Vladimir Slavsky and the head coach of the national flying ski team Wolfgang Steiert have been promising prizes in team competitions, but so far positive reporting has only been provided by individual successes of Dmitry Vasiliev, who was on the podium World Cup even before the arrival of the German specialist.
The results of the next team tournament on the HS145 springboard in the town of Willingen (Germany) were frankly disappointing. Vasiliev, Pavel Karelin, Ilya Roslyakov and Denis Kornilov combined their efforts to fly only to sixth place (out of 11 teams), losing to rivals from Austria, Norway, Finland, Germany and Japan. It is significant that the result of the 37-year-old veteran of the national team of the Land of the Rising Sun Noriaki Kasai is significantly higher than that of our young and considered promising Karelin and Kornilov.
Ukhov is the undisputed leader of the winter season
Athletes of the Old World continue their competitive preparations for the European Indoor Championships, scheduled for March 6-8 in Turin, Italy.
In the German city of Arnstadt, Ivan Ukhov achieved the best result of the season in the world in the high jump to 2 m 36 cm. The participants performed jumps here to the music. Third place was taken by Russian Yaroslav Rybakov (230 cm). Starting from January 21, Ukhov invariably adds 1 cm to the height taken in Třinec (233 cm) at each tournament and in his discipline is the undisputed leader of the winter season.
The international tournament Sparkassen Cup took place in Stuttgart (Germany). The loser of the Beijing Olympics, Croatian Blanka Vlasic, in the high jump sector, tried to storm the hall record of Swede Kaisa Bergqvist (208 cm) and asked to raise the bar 1 cm higher. However, all three attempts were unsuccessful. The final result of the winner is 204 cm. Yuri Borzakovsky took second place at a distance of 800 m, losing to Ahmad Izmail (Sudan).
