In the background of Bristolz Lauri Osborne, standing behind the stage name AppleBlim , playing a bass gitar in an indie group, a hobby for a variety of electronic music and working in a vinyl record store, where he “missed” the whole variety of music as a whole. Perhaps it was such a rich experience in the role of the listener and in the role of the musician that allowed him to become one of the brightest representatives of the Dubstepstezen of the Day of today: co-founder of the cult Label Skull Disco , the owner of the innovative label Apple PIPS , the author of the mix from the series “Dubstep Allstars” . We offer you a special interview with AppleBlim on the eve of his Moscow performance.
Could you introduce yourself to our readers who may not yet know you?
Hi, I am Lori AppleBlim, DJ and musician, co -founder of the Skull Disco label with Shackleton and now the head of the Apple Pips label!
How do you coordinate the roles of the Boss record label, musician and DJ, especially in terms of time distribution?
Perhaps not as effective as I would like! It is quite difficult for them to juggle with all, but at the same time very fun and gambling. So I am quite happy and ready to continue my efforts in this direction.
You previously mentioned that you do not have a studio and enough equipment at home and therefore it is easier for you to make music in collaboration with other artists. Has the situation changed lately lately?
Not really! I still can’t decide on which way to go in terms of technology: Ableton with controllers, cut dabeplaites, logic, laptop again ?? !! We’ll see and see ... In the meantime, I have a lot of amazingly talented comrades with whom it is pleasant to work in their studios.
Do you usually finish writing your tracks quite quickly or is it a long time -consuming process?
For a long time, and I really need to set some deadlines for myself, otherwise I will never finish anything!

What is now capturing the most musically as a listener?
Well, ... Soul of the 80s and the Rare Groove, such a wonderful production and such mental music ... amazing. I also slowly drawn into the more poppy side of the same Soul.
Recently, you have a rather dense schedule of performances, how is the Tour of the States?
Amazing! A lot of things to adapt to, and at first I experienced a small cultural shock, but now I seem to take root and everything is going like clockwork.
The reaction of the American public is very different from what you get playing in England? If so, what exactly?
Hmm, it’s hard to say ... As a rule, the public here has a little more enthusiasm and it is not shy about expressing emotions, but in principle, this is sometimes found in England. In general, it seems that people here really like this music. Moreover, regardless of what exactly I played.
Many would probably highlight your mix Dubstep Allstars, which you recorded for Tempa label. How did this chance fall to you?
Somewhere in 2006, I was asked to play at the warmth of FWD parties >>. Probably the organizers liked it, because after a few more performances they asked me to record a mix for the disk. I think this happened in many ways due to the fact that I had access to a rather interesting music that would not have come to them differently. For example, the Dutch stuff from 2562 and Martyn, tracks from Bristol from Pinch, Pev [Peverelist] and so on. For me, of course, this was a very important event and a huge step forward as for a DJ, so I was very serious about the offer, and I hope I really managed to provide something that people liked and also opened new music for them. I am still very grateful to Tempa for the chance, I owe almost everyone, especially as a DJ. Huge Tempa respect.
It is clear that the living performance is quite different from the pre -recorded mix. How do you usually approach the choice of tracks for a live performance? Are you trying to say something with your set?
I try to give the public a short trip. Honestly, I do not have enough technical dexterity or the desire to play meat hit for meat hit, but do not understand me wrong. I love large dance hits, and is always ready to give them the audience after I first confuse them a little! Hahe, no, however-I like to play the whole range of my musical preferences, so that the set can pour in the set: House, Techno, Touge, Grime, already classic dabstep, jangle, d-b ... Perhaps I just want to play everything that I like to listen.
How is the Apple Pips label boss, which is most important to you?
Release wonderful music.
What are the plans of Apple PIPS for this summer, as well as for the rest of the year? What releases should we follow?
PIPS007 - Ramadanman & Appleblim - Justify / Justify Will Saul and Mike Monday Remix
PIPS008 - Al Tourettes - Dodgem/Sunken
PIPS009 - Instra: Mental - Leave it All Behind / Forbidden
PIPS010 - ???!@#@! ???@? !?!@?!#! $ !!!!!!!
And I hope you should expect much more than what has said!
Outside, it always seemed that Dubstepstezen in England was a well-cohesive community from DJs and musicians. You were part of it almost from the very beginning, the first time you just danced at FWD parties, and then “advanced in rank”. In connection with the recent increased world interest in the stage and with the fact that everyone now has quite dense DJ schedules, does she continue to be the same cohesive?
Yes, I think the same way. It is clear, of course, that you no longer see everyone as often as before, or, more precisely, I do not see, since everyone is very busy. So, for example, I almost no longer find Skream or DMZ concerts, which I used to go to religious events before! Nevertheless, I think that still the spirit of cohesion and at the same time friendliness to outsiders that I felt when I just started.

What are your summer plans? We saw that you have planned a performance on Ibiza - what do you think, how is the music, quite penetrated by a street spirit, will be perceived there?
Let's see! Most likely I will play what is more familiar there, but I will definitely play a little music on 140 BPM. Everywhere where I go now, I notice that people better perceive the change of rhythms, pace and rhythmic drawings, and it doesn’t matter, these people were earlier than fans of House, Dn-B, Techno or something else. It seems to me that recently, in terms of perception, people have become more open.
Do you already have any specific expectations from Russia?
Specific - no at all! I am glad, and is ready to recharge with new impressions, imbued with the atmosphere and maybe find a new source of inspiration. I can't wait for a meeting with local people! Thank you for inviting!
