The President of Adygea fired the Minister of Economy for embellishing reality
The authorities of Adygea once again found themselves in a delicate situation: the president of the republic, Khazret Sovmen, fired the Minister of Economic Development Aslan Tamov. As usual, no one explained anything (when asked by journalists about the reasons for the minister’s resignation, the head of the presidential administration of Adygea, Talii Beretar, said that “that’s what ministers are for, to first appoint them and then, after some time, remove them”). But in the republic, as the regional press reports, no one doubts that Mr. Tamov was fired for preparing the report with which Khazret Sovmen recently traveled to Moscow to see Vladimir Putin. The data on the achievements of Adygea turned out to be too good, in no way consistent with the true state of affairs.The President of Adygea Khazret Sovmen told the head of state about the results of the economic development of the republic in 2005. According to information received by the Southern Reporter weekly from a source close to the Adyghe president, Mr. Sovmen returned to Maykop in a gloomy mood: he was received very coolly in the Kremlin, and, apparently, Vladimir Putin was dissatisfied with the activities of the former gold miner.
It is no secret that the federal authorities are dissatisfied with the intensification of national hysteria in Adygea, which broke out more than a year ago, when the idea of a possible unification of Adygea with Kuban began to be discussed in the press, at the instigation of the governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Alexander Tkachev. Circassian public organizations, including foreign ones, bombarded the Kremlin with angry messages, which condemned even public discussion of the idea of unification. Although the overwhelming majority of the republic's population - Russians and citizens of other nationalities - would certainly speak in favor of unification, the Adyghe minority is of little interest in their opinion. By the way, the recently created “Circassian Congress of the State of Israel” also considered it its primary duty to appeal to Vladimir Putin with a request to “stop the liquidation of Adygea as a subject of the Russian Federation”...
The second irritant for Moscow is the economic insolvency of Adygea. The annual budget of the republic is 3 billion rubles, of which Adygea independently earns only 200 million rubles, the remaining 2.8 billion are subsidies from the federal center. It is known that Khazret Sovmen often has to solve the problems of the republic using his personal funds. Against this background, the data presented in the report of the President of Adygea that the republic's economic growth in 2005 amounted to 19.8%, presumably, gave Vladimir Putin reason to doubt the objectivity of these data.
According to the Republican Statistics Committee, in 2005 the growth of the Adygea economy was 6%, but some deputies of the Republican State Council-Khase consider this figure to be too high. Deputy Nina Konovalova suggested that her parliamentary colleagues include in the agenda of the next meeting the preparation of a request to the President of Russia about the reliability of the data presented to him in Mr. Sovmen’s report. The proposal was rejected: the deputies decided that making such a request was unethical.
Well, the switchman turned out to be the Minister of Economic Development Aslan Tamov, who prepared the report and was fired immediately after the return of the President of Adygea from Moscow. An anonymous source close to Khazret Sovmen admits that Mr. Tamov deliberately distorted certain data in order to please the leader of the republic, who “is very fond of figures indicating the growth of the welfare of the people of Adygea.”
Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor of the Maikop State Technical Institute Aslan Tamov was appointed Minister of Economic Development of Adygea in 2004. He had never done administrative work before. Now in Adygea they remember that Mr. Tamov took the chair of the Minister of Economic Development after the former minister Aslan Khashir lost this post. During the visit of the Adygea delegation to Abkhazia, he started a fight with Shamsutdin Tuguz, Khazret Sovmen’s cousin and adviser, in a Sukhumi restaurant. So then there was no need to guess about the reasons for the resignation.
