Festival "Long Arms". The festival is dedicated to the memory of the popularizer of “new music” and the ideologist of the “Dom” center Nikolai Dmitriev. The festival will feature all styles of modern avant-garde: from avant-garde jazz to noise electronics. At the opening on Saturday, two groups will take the stage: the Dutch jazz duo of Han Bennink (drums) and Misha Mengelberg (piano), as well as the Trio of Marino Pliakas (guitar; Switzerland), Michael Wertmüller (drums; Germany) and KKNull (electronics; Japan). On Sunday, the concert will begin with one of the largest contemporary Russian composers and theorists of “new music” Vladimir Martynov (piano). Martynov’s uniqueness compared to Western minimalists is that he works in the Russian cultural and spiritual space. One of the most original composers and pianists, Nick Bartsch (Switzerland), will perform in the second part. Using elements of jazz and new classical music, Bartsch knows how to play his music in such a way that the synthesis of seemingly well-known genres appears in a new light. “Mine” by M. Walczak. Performance of the Drama Theater named after. Jerzygo Shanyavsky (Poland). Directed by Piotr Kruszczynski. Self-portrait of the southeastern Polish city of Walzbich, which for several centuries lived with its coal mines. After joining the European Union, the mines were closed and many people were left without work.
