“The Tale of the Seven Hanged Men” by L. Andreev. Directed by Mindaugas Karbauskis. Starring Alexander Vorobyov, Dmitry Kulichkov, Alexander Skotnikov, Alexey Komashko, Alexey Usoltsev, Yana Sexte. The director composed a theatrical plot in which the boundary between those being executed and those being executed is removed. And there is no execution in Karbauskis’s play. Gary Hill. "Viewer" Solo exhibition of the American video artist, pioneer and key figure in the history of video art. The exhibition presents the author’s most iconic works, which were selected also from the point of view of their educational function, necessary at this stage of the artist’s presentation to Moscow viewers. GMG-gallery (Leontyevsky Lane, 2a/1), until June 30.
Annette Messager. “Fictions, temptations, manipulations.” Retrospective exhibition of the star of world and French contemporary art. The exhibition features objects created by Messager in the 70s - installations consisting of countless objects, photographs and drawings, collected in series that illustrate the stereotypical world of 20th-century women. Also presented are monumental and theatrical works from the 80s and 90s, various mechanical installations and a new installation created specifically for the exhibition in Moscow. The main criterion for selecting works was the presentation of the key themes of the artist's work - issues of sexual and physical violence, fragmentation of the body, sin, obsession with appearance, fairy tales, children, symbols, stuffed animals, disguise, distortion, repetition. The purpose of the exhibition is not to show the works in chronological order, but rather to focus attention on the aesthetic and thematic unity of Messager's work. "The Feast of Trimalchio." World premiere of a new series of works by the AES+F group. The central object of the exhibition is a 9-channel video installation and a series of large format digital paintings. “The Feast of Trimalchio” is an interpretation of the chapter of the novel “Satyricon” preserved in its most complete form by Petronius Arbiter, the great ancient Roman poet, a contemporary of Nero. The mesmerizing video will immerse the viewer in the space of a modern five-star hotel paradise with paid accommodation, where he will witness such vices as exorbitant gourmetism, excessive wastefulness and wealth, of which Trimalchio himself became a symbol. “Garage” (Obraztsova St., 19a), until August 29.
