Stephen Meisel (Stiven Meisel) - American photographer. Born in 1954. He began his career as an illustrator for the designer of Halston clothes. He did not even think about what would become a photographer.
But once, working as an illustrator for Women's Wear Daily magazine, he got to the Elite modeling agency. There he was allowed to shoot several photographs of models. He photographed them at home and on the street. So he worked for some time: on weekdays he painted for WWD, and took pictures on the weekend. One of the models, by the way, was the actress of Phoebe Cates.
Meiselle is considered a “discoverer” of many supermodels. It was he who promoted Sasha Pivovarova, Snezhann Onopko, Coco Rocha and many others. Thanks to him, they appeared on the pages and covers of Vogue. This is not surprising, since Maesel is a protege of chief editors of the Italian and American Vogue: Frank Sozan and Anna Wintour. He experiments in Italian Vogue, creating disputed materials. For example, in 2006, Maesel defeated the restriction of freedom in the United States after the September 11th terrorist attacks:

Or a wonderful photo station with the hipan name “Make Love, Not War”, where Iraq is clearly guessed:

In addition to stories for magazines, Maesel removes advertising for Versace, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, Calvin Klein and Prada.
Stephen very rarely gives an interview, is not photographed and is probably the only photographer of the level that did not publish a book of his photographs.
