Interview of Leonid Parfenov with Sergei Udaltsov.
I don't like the left. I do not share Udaltsov’s views on what an ideal society is. But listening to him is useful for assessing the current situation.
At one time, Udaltsov worked for me at Center Plus. As a student, he worked part-time as a newspaper distributor, using a wheeled cart to deliver it to mailboxes. Then he rose to the rank of foreman and then to distribution service manager. That is, he became professional. The same thing happened with his social activities. Having entered politics essentially at the age of 18 or 19, he has now become a professional in this matter. And don’t let his seemingly simple manner of speaking confuse him. He is not eager to run for president, and he is a good organizer. I am afraid that in the foreseeable future the country will need not so much opposition ideologists as professional revolutionaries working, so to speak, on the ground. There will be no democratic “evolution”; most likely after the elections the junta will go into confrontation and people like Udaltsov will play their role.
