To speak or remain silent about GMOs?

Disputes about whether food products need to be labeled for GMO content have begun again in Russia. GMO is a genetically modified organism whose genotype has been artificially changed using genetic engineering methods. For example, it is widely used in agriculture. Recently, the “Does not contain GMO” labeling was canceled in the Moscow region. The authorities justify their decision by saying that this mark cannot guarantee consumers a 100% absence of transgenes in products. In addition, antimonopoly activists oppose mandatory labeling of GMOs. In their opinion, the use of the mark created unequal conditions for producers in the market and contributed to unfair competition.
