"Jokes" of the elements

A strange (terrible) event happened on June 14 with my parents. They live in Loskutovo. When my mother woke up in the morning, she turned on the stove in the kitchen, set it to cook food for the dog, and went out into the garden to remove the frame from the greenhouse. Father was still sleeping. Thunder rumbled in the distance. Mom says that it thundered quite far away. In their garden they have a rusty metal garage, which is used to store all sorts of rubbish. Mom leaned the frame against the wall of the garage and at that moment there was a crash nearby, as if a lot of glassware had broken. Mom sat down in fright. It felt like some kind of wave was sweeping towards the house. She immediately went home and when she went inside she saw that the entire kitchen was in smoke. There was a hole burned in the stove burner, and the extension cord connector to which the stove was connected was burned in several places. The flexible water hose, which was located on the metal stand of the stove, was also damaged (the stove is grounded). What was that? Short circuit or lightning tricks? In favor of lightning (or is it something else?) Can we attribute the exact coincidence of two events in time or is it a random coincidence? It's scary to think what could have happened if at that moment my mother was not on the street, but was at the stove...
