IKEA in Russia has a retail network (14 stores in 11 cities of the country), procurement offices in Moscow and Novosibirsk, the distribution center in Esipovo and Zorobvin, IKEA Centres Russia (controls the network of shopping centers of Mega and builds new shops), as well as factories in Esipov, Tikhvin, Novgorod village Picking and the Kirov village of Krasnaya Polyana. The Village went to the Moscow IKEA service office and found out how it works there.
The first meeting of the applicant usually takes place with an HR manager. It is important for the employee’s selection that the values of a person coincide with the values of the company. In IKEA there are 10 of them, among them - unity, enthusiasm, look in the face of reality, do not dwell on the others achieved. Of course, at the interview they do not put boxes - corresponds to a person of value or not. It is important to get a general impression of the candidate. HR asks, for example, about plans for the next year, the main goal in life and steps taken to achieve it. At the same meeting, the applicant is told in detail about the working conditions so that some points do not make a surprise for him after receiving the offer. Suppose not everyone loves the Openspace, communication on “you” even with the leader, rewards based not on personal sales, but the command result.
All personnel selection specialists are guided by the same principles of selection around the world. Therefore, employees, for example, IKEA Russia and IKEA Switzerland can be very similar in nature. What is it for? The company says that employees can try themselves not only in different positions, but also in different countries. There are examples when Russian employees moved to work in France, Germany, the USA or Korea.
A month ago, the story of the transfer of an employee of the Russian IKEA to the German office ended. Before that, in Germany, he worked for six months under a special IKEA program. He really liked the country, besides, his relatives were found there. IKEA Germany was ready to take him to the position of the director of the store. But when he began to draw up documents for a working visa, it turned out that he received a higher education in the specialty “physicist-nuclear”. Because of this, he was suspected of espionage and did not want to let him out of the country. Then at IKEA Germany he was offered an even higher position - in order to justify the move.

Number of employees: about 500 employees in the Moscow headquarters

But there is also the opposite principle of selection of employees - cultural diversity. “If everyone were the same, then the company could not develop,” IKEA believe. What is unacceptable to applicants is aggression, rudeness and signs of corruption. The IKEA recruiter says that HR sometimes offers a bribe, they say: "Help get a job, we will not offend." But this is immediately refused. Suspicions and applicants dressed in strict business costumes will cause, because it does not correspond to the spirit of the company. To pass an interview, it is not necessary to be a fan of IKEA and collect furniture with closed eyes. Those who are indifferent to the arrangement of the house are also taken here. But over time, they say in the company, everyone becomes fans of home design.
Sometimes the first stage of the conversation with HR is replaced by an assessment center. For example, such a collective selection is arranged for interior designers. Usually, no more than ten candidates and six observers are present at the assessment center-IKEA employees. The same type of selection is used for internal candidates before raising.
The second stage is an interview with the immediate supervisor. The manager checks not so much for compliance with values, but also the general horizons of a person and motivation, looks at his professional skills. And the final interview is an interview with a higher leader.
When a person has passed all the stages of the interview, he is given a letter. It indicates who will be his leader, describes the working conditions and what is included in the social package. Before going to work, each new employee undergoes a physical examination. On the first day of work, the newcomer is assigned a mentor - Buddy. It helps to deal with business processes, the work of different programs, introduces colleagues and helps to navigate in the office.
The test period in the company is called a graduate school, as a result of which the “graduate student” undergoes simple certification: orally answers the questions asked by the mentor.
In the first working week, newcomers are sent to Introdakshn-training. It is divided into two parts: two days at the beginning of work and a day two months after receiving the offer. Representatives of different departments of the company - logistics, design, sales are conducted. They talk about their function and tasks. Such training helps to understand how the departments are interconnected and what is their main mission. In the process of this training, a tour of the office is arranged. And then a small quest is arranged for beginners: you need to find the desired department as soon as possible, make a selfie against the background of its sign and ask their colleagues what they do. Another task: newcomers are divided into groups and are assembled by speed according to the instructions for a rack or cabinet.

Each employee twice a year, together with the head, sets himself the target for six months ahead. These are both professional tasks and goals for self -development. To achieve them, you can participate in training. There are about 200 of them in the arsenal. However, this method is not considered the most effective. In IKEA, it is customary to study in the process of work and perform tasks that will contribute to the development of that other competence. For example, if an employee does not hold presentations well, then he will most likely speak to colleagues more often and eventually learn to do this well.
The company actively works a program to raise employees by position - HIPO (High Potential). It lasts eight to nine weeks during the year. Trainings can take place not only in Moscow, but also, for example, in Krasnodar or in one of the factories. For example, last year, employees went to the head unit of the company in Elmhult for a week, studied there. Employees not only met colleagues from other countries, but were also able to chat with the founder of IKEA by ICEA Camprad.
There is no dress code at the Moscow headquarters: you can appear in the office in jeans, and in shorts, and in sneakers. Those who meet with clients are dressed in a business style, and store workers (from a warehouse specialist to the director) give the same form. After the shift, it can be handed over to the corporate dry cleaning, and pick it up already clean and ironed. A funny incident occurred with the form once. A woman really wanted to get a job in a store on a warm camp. She was about 55–58 years old, but she looked much younger and was very active. At the same time, she understood that if she writes her age in the questionnaire, then, most likely, the recruiter would not invite her to a meeting. And she decided to get around this obstacle and contact the store employees directly. After talking with one of them, she explained why she wanted to work, and asked to help her arrange a meeting with a recruiter. The employee liked her, so he called HR. The recruiter conducted an interview and decided to take it to work. And only on the first working day, the woman found out that that responsive employee was the director of the IKEA WEARSHILA.
In the office, everyone works on the Openspace. Meetings with clients can be arranged in negotiations, and relaxation zones are adapted for relaxation. In one of these rooms, employees of the IT unit put a horizontal bar and a game console. On the same floor there is a photo studio. It removes a small part of the furniture for the Russian catalog. The headquarters also has a test room where specialists conduct experiments on new products. In the store on exhibition beds, employees cannot be sleeping. But the company says that sometimes a photo of buyers who hid and spent the night in IKEA appear on the network. Although, according to them, it is not so simple to do: the store also works at night, logists constantly go, fill the shelves with goods. Although this did not prevent a 12-year-old teenager from spending a week, hiding from parents in IKEA.
In the Moscow office, an irregular working day, although formally it lasts from 09:00 to 18:00. At the stores, the schedule has been harshly planned, it indicates exactly how many employees should be at the workplace depending on the time and day of the week. Sometimes office employees help those who work in stores. This happened before the last New Year, when everyone rushed to buy furniture and household appliances. Someone laid out the goods, someone worked in the warehouse, and the director of IKEA White Dacha, Johan Segerteen, for example, gathered in the parking lot of carts.

The fica in the company is called coffee-punt, because in Swedish “fica” means coffee break. Here you can eat, warm up the food brought from the house, or chat with a colleague in an informal setting. Coffee here is custard, they do not throw the thick after it, but give the employees to the country. You can have lunch in the dining room on the ground floor. The assortment of dishes here is much wider than in the IKEA restaurant, so that the same dishes are not boring in the week of work. At the same time, a full -fledged lunch (first, second, dessert and drink) will cost only 50 rubles. For 15 rubles, an employee will be available with an unlimited number of salad.
In IKEA you can learn English for free, if necessary for work. Classes are held in groups twice a week. Each employee is compensated for 9 thousand rubles per fitness. There is a single discount for everyone for furniture - 15 %. But the size of purchases per year is limited. But if someone makes repairs or completely updates furniture in the apartment, then you can ask to increase the limit.
In addition to traditional bonuses, IKEA work programs to motivate employees. Among them are annual bonuses, own pension program and program "Tack!" (Translated from Swedish means "thank you"). She encourages those who have worked in the company for more than five years.
The Scandinavian traditions, as it turned out, were not erected in IKEA to the cult. And in general, corporate events are held twice a year: this is a New Year's party and summer (Midsammer - a summer solstice holiday). On the latter, local Swedes are dancing the traditional dance of funny frogs, and employees sing national songs. To do this, everyone is given a text with transcription.
