| A Russian Federal Property Fund official was stabbed to death in Novosibirsk Acting officer killed in Novosibirsk the head of one of the departments of the Russian Federal Property Fund (RFFI) is 53-year-old Sergei Korolko. The killer waylaid him at the entrance of the house in which an official sent to Novosibirsk was renting an apartment. The criminal stabbed the victim eight times and fled. The investigation was carried out by the investigative group of the Novosibirsk Regional Prosecutor's Office. Representatives of the investigation and the capital's business circles immediately announced that the murder was contracted and related to the professional activities of Mr. Korolko. However, detectives did not comment yesterday on what particular cases could have caused such a brutal reprisal.
According to the regional police department, the attack on Mr. Korolko took place on Tuesday evening at 19.00-19.30. According to the testimony of the driver who drove the official in an official car to the entrance of house No. 17 on Lenin Street, no one followed Korolko into the premises. The criminal was waiting for him on the landing between the second and third floors. An unknown person stabbed Sergei Korolko several times in the chest and back, after which the wounded man fell and hit his head hard. The neighbors heard the noise, but did not understand what was happening. The victim was discovered ten minutes later by residents of the house. In serious condition - with stab wounds and a traumatic brain injury - the official was taken to an emergency hospital. At 22.30 Korolko died on the operating table.
The Zheleznodorozhny district prosecutor's office opened a criminal case on the fact of “murder committed for hire.” Throughout the evening and night of Tuesday, an investigative team led by the regional deputy prosecutor Nikolai Snikkars worked at the scene of the incident. Detectives came to the conclusion that the criminals did not even try to frame the attack on the official as a robbery and most likely it was a contract killing. Yesterday, the prosecutor's office said that, according to their data, the RFFI department, where Mr. Korolko worked, was engaged in the sale of confiscated, seized and ownerless property.
Yesterday, Vremya Novostey learned that the murder of Mr. Korolko may be connected with the sale of cell phones that were seized by the police in August last year. Then a criminal case was opened on the fact of smuggling, and the investigation was carried out by the investigative committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. According to some reports, the phones, and there are about 200 thousand of them, were sold at “ridiculous” prices - from 5 rubles. per piece. According to unofficial data, the capital's FSB Directorate became interested in this story, whose employees some time ago talked about the sold phones with Sergei Korolko.
The RFBR itself did not officially confirm this information yesterday, but did not deny it either. The official representative of the department, Nikolai Nikolaev, clarified that until February of this year, Sergei Korolko served as deputy head of the regional relations department of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research. He was sent to Novosibirsk on a business trip as an acting Head of the Siberian Interregional Branch of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research. The management was dissatisfied with the work of the former head of this department, and Mr. Korolko had to deal with the current situation and control the transfer of affairs to the new head. Literally next week the auditor planned to return to Moscow. Tatiana GRITSENKO |
